Best specific headset for Xbox One?
With the newly designed controller for Xbox One and a change in connection for headsets, I was left with a decision to either use the supplied headset, buy an adapter for an existing headset or buy a specific Xbox One headset. Having used the supplied headset for a while it was obviously adequate for 'chat' but not really a gaming headset as it has only one speaker and no game sounds.I decided I wanted to upgrade to a gaming headset so that left me with a choice of buying an adapter or a specific headset that also has an adapter. After doing some research I found that there wasn't much choice in specific headsets but the XO7 reviewed well and also came with a specific adapter. I have previous experience of Turtle Beach headsets - having the MW3 Delta's but found the fit was a little large and uncomfortable for long gaming sessions. This kind of put me off getting just an adapter. Looking at this headset, it appeared smaller but had the usual options to adjust the size. In the end I thought I would give this a go - at the very least, I had an adapter to use with my other headset. I was a little concerned that the game sounds would require a plethora of cables everywhere to work but all you need is a cable connected to your controller via the adapter.First thing I noticed was the quality of the headset and the cables. It feels and looks like a quality product. Set up was very easy and only required a controller update (with the supplied USB cable). Sound quality is very good - certainly on a par with my much more expensive Turtle Beaches although it doesn't have the same option to adjust the sound or voice. The comfort though is much better. Being slightly smaller, it fits perfectly over my head and ears. The padding is certainly sufficient and the ear pads have memory foam under the leather like covering. Although quite weighty, they don't feel particularly heavy when wearing. The volume, mute etc are all controlled on the adapter. Like I said the game sounds are clear and certainly on a par with more expensive headsets. Its become my primary headset and highly recommended if you want a gaming headset.

I bought this for myself for Christmas as my family were unsure what to get me, the official Microsoft Headsets I have been through 6 in the past 12 months (the build quality was terrible of the "official headsets").I decided to get a pair of Turtle Beaches because they are a very reputable company, the last pair of headphones I bought were Skull-Candy Aviators in 2012 and I use them daily and I have never regretted buying them (Those were £105 at the time). Now onto the review, the XO7 headphones at the time of purchase were £99 (Amazon cheekily put them up to £119 a week before Christmas though). The headphones themselves come with three cables and a chat adapter for the Xbox One Controller (PLEASE NOTE THERE IS A CABLE FOR PC/MOBILE TOO.If you are just a casual gamer too and sometimes you want to just chill out and not join parties, the Microphone is detachable too (you can pull it out as it plugs into a jack also, and then you don't need to have it in your peripheral vision as you play.I've compared them with my Skull Candy Aviators on PC and these offer MUCH higher audio quality. They are also comfy after gaming for hours.Overall a great purchase.

Not all correct
Happy with my X07 headset but the mixer block was not a turtle beach brand but a xbox standard version. So my product was opened and part was replaced. I know this because I already have the same set and turtle beach do not sell xbox standard parts. Luckily I have the correct mixer block but unhappy I paid full price for not everything correct in packaging. Yet they are the best head sets that are not wireless.

He has always gone for the turtle beach headphones with his xbox 360 and always had a good experience with them
purchased these for my son. He has always gone for the turtle beach headphones with his xbox 360 and always had a good experience with them. He wanted these for his new xbox one.Well they are ok, he says they are very comfortable but has mentioned that they seem to cut out randomly in the middle of games which isn't great! he had to do the download as mentioned in other reviews and this was easy enough and only took a few minutes but as they seem to lose connection on occasions this has put him off using them, not great as they were so expensive!Im not sure if the problem is with the headphones themselves or the stupid connection that Microsoft decided to put on the controllers but keeping them connected does seem a problem.

Good headset but should be better..
Good points: The sound is good from this headset, punchy, bassy, a simulated surround sound effect. I really like the headset for listening to music on mobile devices, much better than in-ear headphones. Being powered through the controller is a bonus, no batteries are required in the headset itself. It is a comfortable headset, feels well made. I like that the mic is detachable though I would have preferred to just be able to swivel it upright to a vertical position when not in use. Some bad points: Getting the desired level for chat versus game sound can be tricky and a bit fiddly. When used for gaming there are occassional sound dropouts however these now seem to occur less after the latest update. The lead from the headset to the controller is actually a bit too long, it will probably lie on your feet if you are a 'lean forward' player. The ear piece cushions are a faux leather so in prolonged use they may naturally get a bit warm and sweaty. The biggest missing feature is that you cannot hear yourself speak through the headset. Some headsets do let you hear yourself and it is a really good feature, it allows you to regulate your voice and is a more natural experience. As this feature is missing I have a tendancy to raise my voice while playing. Sometimes I slip one earphone off so I can hear myself.I've given it four stars because the build quality, general sound, no need for batteries and overall comfort outweigh the negatives and missing features.
