Good but some annoying design faults - doesn't work with Android
I read a lot (30-50) of reviews on this product both here and on many other review sites. Many complain of dropping video, lost alert settings after app restart, poor night lighting etc.I think many problems with video streaming stem from poor wifi signals and slow broadband speeds (from ISPs). I have good wifi and ISP speed so I have not experienced those problems. I have both an ipad mini with retina display where it works brilliantly and a Nexus 5 android device where the experience is hugely poor (update April 2015 - Withings have effectively abandoned support for Android so don't buy if you are not using iOS).There is some lag on the video and voice relay (2 -3 seconds) but you would expect this on any device of the same ilk. Video streaming takes both processor and graphics processing muscle so don't expect a ipad gen 1 to cut it.Pros- on recent i-devices (etc) video quality is good/ sufficient and night lighting is fine (if not a little spooky)- Looks good- Was easy to set up (but I am technically minded and used of setting such things up) - many complain of complex set up but I thought it was simple - took 10 mins including testing of main features- Good features (video, coloured night light, ability to speak to baby - sound quality is good from ipad, alerting, lullabies, temp and humidity sensors)Cons- Do NOT buy this device if you have an android device (see above).- The mounting mechanism wont work for everyone and some people have commented that the magnetic mount is weak so is prone to be dislodged by an active baby - update April 2015 - mine has worked out how to do it so we have to dismount during the day when he is in the crib- The micro usb charger (where it connects to the unit) design, from other reviews is prone to coming away from the circuit board assembly if you drop it on the connector meaning you cant charge the device. Also trying to force the usb connector the wrong way seemed to yield the same result - probably just takes some care and attention...would prob benefit from an apple like magnetic power connector- Battery life is 1 hour tops so frankly you need to keep it connected to mains at all times.From my research very few good video baby monitors that connect to your tablet / phone...this seems to be one of the better ones and so it should be for the price. You could probably rig up an old ios device and just facetime to it and get the video monitoring part but you wont get the other features.So key tip - only buy this if you have strong wifi signal around your house and have a min 10mbs internet connection. Only use with an ios device!

It would be better if they would spend some time and budget to update the app, to include video recording like the typical Withings camera!

Design flaw in otherwise impressive product.
I really wanted this product to work, I love the idea of using my home wifi, Apple Time Capsule and additional Airport Express to pass the video signal around the house, however I could not convince my wife that this was the product for us when the product could not hold a signal over time. The thing with a baby monitor is that it has to work EVERY time that you want it to and this failed a couple of times in the first few days of using it so it had to go back and we returned to using 2.4GHz Motorola version. However that version has issues with feedback so I am still searching for the perfect baby monitor.

Does not work on O2/ already registered to another email!
Disapointing. Arrived registered to another email so could not set up/register device (locked out).The instructions state clearly that if you are on 02 4G or 3G cell connection this device doesnt work! So if you want to use away from wi fi network no joy unless you phone 02. Have returned my package as could not set up as used already by someone else! Not great! New version does not allow you to clip onto cot.

Would have been great but I purchased this so I could keep an eye on my baby when I was out and about, the network kept dropping and it kept on freezing also used up your phone battery very quickly. If it worked as it stated then this would have been well worth your money and great item. Ended up returning, no problems with refund.

No tech support, but great product
This is an amazing product if you get it to work! I have failed to setup the remote access from several samsung devices. The reason for one star is the lack of tech support from whitings. There is no telephone number and after going through their website for help I never heard back(over two months ago). I even raised this issue on their facebook page and was assured that someone would get back to me within 48 hours, its been over a month now with no response. I am very disappointed that I can not get this function working and that there is no tech support to help.

The app was last updated March 2014. Unfortunately it's a dated product with a modern price tag!Withings have abondanded this product and are using it as a cash cow!!!

Withings Smart Baby Monitor
Love it! Use it to check my father has taken his tablets from the comfort of my own home, or anywhere else for that matter. Well designed & reliable over the last 2 years! Some might think it is pricey, but I think it is worth every penny.
