Hello, It's impractical to use for transporting food to school. We're advised to gently heat the internal bowl with hot, but not boiling water. I've used my set at the dinner table whilst entertaining friends, food remained hot and unspoilt. A flask that holds hot food wood be a better option, as the shape matters to.pack and carry. Hopefully I've answered ok for you.
