The best value ceramide on the market
I don’t have any issues but like to take things to help prevent aging and maintain good skin. In the studies that have been done on phytoceramides lipowheat 350mg and Ceramide PCD 40mg (in this product) are the patented ones that showed improvement. Between lipowheat and the rice used in this one rice performed significantly better. I don’t care much about supplement brands but I avoid shady private label products (the majority in the world of ceramides) and I wanted to make sure I got one of the patented ceramides from the studies. This product is one of the only ones to use Ceramide PCD and as a bonus contains 6mg of asthaxanthin which I had been buying separately from Bioastin. So if you find this for anything below $30 that’s $15 a month whereas most of the other brands are more expensive with unproven ingredients so I think this is the best option for ceramides. They’re also quite small and easy to swallow.Another good supplement that uses Rice PCD ceramides is Paula’s Choice which also has 40mg and hyaluronic acid instead of asthaxanthin. Paula's Choice Ceramide SupplementBut that one is $39 for 60 pills and they say to take 2/ day so double the dosage of what other brands suggest. So I guess if you double up regardless of brand you might get better results. If you for some reason don’t want rice you can try the lipowheat I recommend Life Extension, well renowned and reasonably priced.I once wrote to Doctor’s Best asking about a supplement and received a long, detailed response so it seems they take their business seriously; they did get bought up by a Chinese company a few years ago but said they’re committed to keeping the same standards. For my anti aging supplements I take this one, Doctor’s Best R-Lipoic Acid, and Shade Factor or Heliocare to help avoid sun damage (while religiously using sunscreen). While I can’t say I’ve noticed much of a difference I’ve hardly aged in the past 15 years so I believe this is helping along with tretinoin/peptides and other good skincare.I have zero affiliation with anyone at any supplement company- just a longtime savvy consumer here.

Positive Results!
Very pleased with this product....after only using for one week, I'm already seeing positive results with hair and nails!! Nails have already shown growth and my skin is feeling more moisturized. I'm really happy with this and for such a short time frame, this is pretty incredible!

Old formula effective. Will see how changes perfomr
I judge a ceramides supplement by the strength of my papery fingernails. They have been strong for the 6 months I have been using Doctor's Best. So good product.I started taking Doctor's Best, when the phytoceramides formulation I had used for years was discontinued. Many ceramides formulations were redesigned in the past year, adding a package of other vitamins. I prefer to select my own vitamins individually, determining by myself the best dose for me, a particular version of vitamin (when there are several), and a trusted manufacturer. So I searched until I found the simple Doctor's Best formula for ceramides, which only adds astaxanthin. I'd prefer that carrageenan were not among the "other ingredients", but otherwise a good formulation for my needs.Very recently Doctor's Best has made changes in its formulation. The photos here match the new bottle. The description and list of ingredients in the text appear out of date. For active ingredients, instead of Ceramide PCD, the new formula uses "Rice ceramide extract (CeraLok)". This will need research to learn the difference. Among the Other ingredients, rice extract and sitosterol-3-O-Glucosides have been added. I have no idea what the sitosterol ingredient is. Long, technical-sounding ingredients make me nervous. The same ingredient is mentioned in Active ingredients, also, in connection with the Rice Ceramides. That is confusing. An explanation from the company about all these changes would be nice.So the fingernail test will have to be rerun to judge if the changed formulation is as good as the previous one. Hopeful.

Prevention 101
WIfe and I were taking for prevention, so I can't say there were any noticeable results. One word of caution, it conatins CARRAGEENAN, which some folks, like my wife, are very sensitive to. We are switching to another product as a result.
