Pentair R38013B American Basket Assembly Replacement Pool Skimmer and Pump

Our original skimmer bucket kept getting stuck so we ordered this. It’s a solid pice that works well and has improved the function of our skimmer and how it sucks water. Definitely cheaper than our local pool supply store and worth every penny.

Previously I used a less expensive knockoff brand that looked the same. I’m glad I went with these this time. There’s definitely a difference in quality. This is THE REAL DEAL. No comparison!

This, along with the basket (Pentair R38013A) was a perfect replacement for my 24-year old skimmer that has served me well. As with others, I simply used my Dremel tool to grind down about a third of the bottom of the upper set of the little tabs. This allowed this part to go down just enough into the basket so that it could be rotated and lowered down. t took me longer to get out my Dremel tool and put it way than it did to grind down the tabs. I felt that this would be much easier and quicker to do than to return it. It works perfectly in my pool. A QUICK UPDATE: Like some others have noted, the basket floats when the pump is turned off and does not 'sink' when the pump is turned back on. I fixed this issue by simply dropping a 4 oz. fishing weight that I had in my garage into the bottom of the basket. Issue solved.

My skimmer weir door broke and could not replace, so basically I had an open skimmer basket. When the pump stopped, anything floating in the skimmer would come back out. This insert solved that problem by floating within the skimmer basket (need the corresponding basket). So now when the pump shuts off, the insert rises and contains the floating debris. When the pump is on, most of the water is pulled over the top lip of the floating insert, thereby skimming mostly along the top of the water surface.

After years of contending with an old basket this worked like a charm!

works great and is silent. Keeps all of the skimmer parts in the skimmer assembly . And it eliminates the need for a skimmer flap, so you don't hear the clapping sound of the flap opening and closing. It is plastic so I expect it to degrade over time

Price was good and it fit with the other piece of my pool skimmer. It’s designed so that the skimmer won’t come apart or let out all the debris that it filtered.

This fits in my regular skimmer basket and does everything my old skimmer flapper did. So happy I talked my son into getting one as this flapper was broke. He is happy too.
