Good tea
2.5 grams is just enough with alkaline water and a bit of an herbal blend makes good tea. Not bitter at all. More than 2.5 grams gets a little bitter.

Good juaogulan tea!
I have reviewed numerous teas from Cha Wu, a company based in China and imports a lot of awesome teas from Amazon to the United States and you can purchase in various grades. For this review's tea from Cha Wu, I am reviewing their Gynostemma Tea. While called Gynostemma Tea, it's best known as Juaogulan tea which uses leaves that are derives from dioecious, herbaceous climbing vine (same family as the cucumber and gourd) and is widely used in South and East Asia and also New Guinea.Yes, it's also been called the poor man's ginseng and was first documented in a sketch book in 1406 CE by Zhu Xiao as it was seen as a survival food rather than a medicinal herb. Until 1578, when it was identified by herbalist Li Shizen as a medicinal herb used for ailments such as hematuria, edema, tumors and trauma. These days, its used primarily for herbal tea and not used for medicine. In fact, the European Union considers juaogulan as a "novel food". While many websites, you will read its good for those who have high cholesterol, high blood pressure and improving heart function. But there is no proof of juaogulan being effective, but some believe in it.The tea has a slight bitter sweet flavor and does taste similar to green tea and is also caffeine-free.For the most part, it's a tea that I like when hot and you get a good amount of loose leaf tea and like other Cha Wu teas, it comes in a bag but has a plastic sealer, so you can clip and close the bag.Overall, its a good, more average tea, as I've tried even better from Cha Wu, but for those who believe in the tea's benefits will like it, especially that you get a lot for under $13.Cha Wu Gynostemma Loose Leaf Tea is worth checking out!

Pretty good quality Gynostemma
I've tried two different brands of Gynostemma in the past: one left a metallic, glitter-like residue on the bottom of the pot and the other is my normal brand that tastes good and has no residue. This brand did have a little residue at the bottom, but it looked like bits of Gynostemma leaf that went through the filter. I have no concerns about drinking it, and it tastes like I'd expect. I use one 1.5 Tablespoon of tea to 3 cups of 200F water and let it steep for 30 minutes, but I don't think this is how most people do it. I also enjoyed the sample white tea teabag that was included.

Excellent tea Brand and Herbal Product!
From the packaging to the actual herb, Cha Wu makes great, high-quality, gift-able teas.I do not understand all the nuances of various tea making processes, but there is a combination of process and personal preference that always influences a person's opinion of a particular tea. This tea-Gynostemma Tea, is quite special as it has been long known to assist in the Longevity and vitality of the human body.I have been highly interested in exploring the addition of this powerful and perhaps essential herb to my diet.I take so many supplements and have such a sensitive belly that I do not want to add this herb through those means.I love tea, so I figured that if it is palatable, even enjoyable, it will be a welcome addition to my regimen.I bought the 3.5oz/100g size of their Loose Leaf Chinese Herbal Tea JiaoGuLan.They state their products are "Natural Organic". Natural is just a word that does not tell us anything about the purity of any product. Organic is just another word as well, unless it can be backed up by a Certification from an easily identified organization. In the case of China, all bets area off.So, with a healthy skepticism, I read the info that states their tea in wild harvested in a protected area far from industry. After trying 4 of their tea varieties, and finding each one to be so pure and distinctive, I totally trust that their tea is produced with the highest safeguards for purity, potency and protection in mind.I blundered my first cup by not reading instructions by steeping too much herb in using that was not hot enough for far too long. It was extremely bitter and dark and had a distinctive licorice taste (I do NOT like licorice). After reading through instructions, I roughly translated grams and C and mls to teaspoons, F and ounces.I steeped 1/2 teaspoon of herb in 10 ounces of water heated between 200-210 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 minutes. The resulting tea is heavenly! It's a pleasant yellow/tan color with a light taste and sometimes a slight licorice aftertaste. My tea buddy states it tastes faintly peachy. I don't taste the peach. The thin emerald green tendrils of herb are delicate and pleasing to the eye.The packaging consists of a small plain brown corrugated paper box stamped with the Cha Wu logo and a sticker identifying the product inside. You could wrap it with raffia for an earthy little gift of power....because this tea gave me calm, solid, strength and power. I sipped a little just before a power work out and drank a little more in recovery. At the end of that workout, I usually feel so spent that I may take a nap. I felt that way, but within a short time after drinking the tea, I was just fine!back to the packaging - When you open the box, you will find a sample of another tea of their to try.Mine was white tea and was EXCELLENT!Beneath that sample is a branded black vacuum sealed bag containing the tea and a blue clip to reclose the bag and lock in freshness.I would suggest as an upgrade that they change the length of this clip because it won't fit back into the box unless you smash it to the side. I always have to wrestle with it.These boxes are beautiful and easy to see in my kitchen tea cabinet.I can't wait to witness the long-term effects of this tea. I will update my Review with any new discoveries...Meanwhile, this product and company is enthusiastically and....Highly Recommended!

Pricey but comes with a clip
Standard lose tea leaves and it tastes good on the high side. The packaging includes a clip to help seal the bag for longer freshness. Other things to do to make sure you store it in a dry place and also in a shaded/dark area. It is also even recommended to store it in a refrigerator if you intend to make it last a long time.I haven't had too many Jiaogulan tea so it's hard for me to compare but as most everyone will say that this version is sweet but not overly sweet. There supposed benefits such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, etc. Of course check with your doctor first to be sure you guys are on the same page.Overall, it's a good decent cup of tea and I wish it was lightly more affordable for everyday drinking. This review is for Cha Wu-Gynostemma Tea, 3.5oz/.100g,Loose Leaf Chinese Herbal Tea JiaoGuLan,Natural Organic

Chinese herbal tea
This is a Chinese caffeine-free herbal tea. Flavor is mildly sweet, but nothing special. Many Chinese people drink it for the possible health benefits (lowering blood sugar and cholesterol and even fighting cancer). Western medicine hasn't accepted this yet, but scientific studies are on-going. You should read independent literature on your own and make your own decision on the health benefits (search for JiaoGuLan).
