Nothing but good things to say about this jacket!
I've had a lot of trouble finding a GOOD heated vest or jacket online, but I'm thoroughly satisfied with this one from Antarctica Gear so I wanted to make sure buyers know that this is one of the good ones!Unlike every other heated jacket I've tried, this one actually runs true to size. I normally wear size 3XL and I have tried jackets that were 6XL which still were way too small to zip. This 3XL is a perfect 3XL, so I would assume the other sizes run true to size as well. Also, it's nice that it is a proper length too - it doesn't run too short like many others. See my review photo to see how it fits on my 6'3" tall 320lbs body. It's a nice all-around everyday thickness too. It's a lot more than just a wind breaker, but it's not puffy parka either. The outer shell is a nice heavy duty synthetic fabric with a nice texture that appears to be water resistant, but I'll have to wait for rainy season to see how it performs in that respect. The inner liner is a nice slick synthetic fabric that slides over other clothing with ease. The zippers are high quality YKK zippers, and unlike most heated jackets from China the zipper pull is on the correct side (right hand side). There are two internal pockets, one on the left for the battery pack and the jacket's cord, and nother on the right for a cell phone or iPod with a headphone cord port. This leaves the two outside pockets uncluttered so you can still put your hands inside. The heating elements all feel like they're in the correct locations for maximum effectiveness. The ones in front are right where your hands go in the pockets. The ones on the back seem large for maximum coverage. And the ones in the arms are a surprisingly nice addition. I didn't realize how nice they were to have until I used them. The heating elements seem to get nice and hot if needed, but 3 different power levels allow you to adjust your comfort to the conditions. Heated jackets and vests always work better when worn underneath an outer layer so that the heat gets trapped inside, but even without my outer layer of work PPE, this jacket retains its warmth well.Part of the reason why this jacket provides such good warmth is I think because it's designed to operate with its included 12 volt battery, instead of the usual 7.2 or 5 volt USB battery pack. The higher voltage gives the heaters more power to work with. The down side is that the jacket and battery pack use a proprietary bullet-style plug, but it also has a standard USB-A output at 5 volts for charging USB devices, and it has a USB-C input to recharge it. The battery pack is physically larger than any of my other USB battery packs, but the tradeoff is that it provides that 12 volt output along with a big 16,000 milliamp-hour capacity so it can run the heater all day long or recharge a phone several times on a single charge. Unfortunately its proprietary power connector means we can't just swap out another standard USB battery pack when needed, but its big capacity means that's most likely not a concern. Plus, it can always be charged back up on a lunch break, although completely recharging the battery from 0 to 100% will take 4-5 hours on a 3 amp charger. At least the digital power level display lets you know exactly what percentage power it has remaining, which is a lot more informative than a series of 3 or 4 LEDs like other power packs I own. To make sure it's reporting accurately, charge the pack to 100% and then completely discharge it to 0%. After charging it back to 100%, it will now accurately report its power level. See the attached photos for an idea of its size and features. As you can tell from my review, I'm truly pleased to have found a jacket that gets everything right. I expect for it to provide years of service in my outdoor work environment as a field supervisor.

Heated jacket keeps the doctor warm too!
My boyfriend is a doctor and the patients aren’t the only ones who get cold working in the doctor’s clinics. He loves it. He wears it underneath his white coat.

Warm for most activities including motorcycles!
I use this jacket as a warming layer and wind blocker on my motorcycle, while below 35°f it struggles, preheating is where it excels and makes a real difference. If if I were to make any recommendations, it would be to add some heating pads on the shoulders and around the flanks (which i might do myself). Battery life is great, it's get about 3 hours of use on a single charge on high. The number of pockets this jacket has is awesome, you'll never run out of room to put things. The best part about this jacket is it's 12vdc! I can plug it into my motorcycles power outlet and save the battery for my gloves and pants!Fit is absolutely accurate to size, it demonstrates good water resistance and durable material. While not ideal for a crash situation, the material repels wind and water like any other wind breaker. I'm the double zipper is handy, especially when wearing layers and styling is modern.

Keeps you warm on a motorcycle
I keep telling myself that the riding season is over and that I'll put the bike away for the year. Then we get a beautiful, sunny day where the temperature is ALMOST warm enough to go out, and like an idiot I put on a million layers, hop on the bike, and freeze my butt off. After some deliberation, I decided that heated gear isn't cheating and started looking around at different jackets. I found this jacket, with good overall reviews, for a reasonable price so I jumped on it.I already have a motorcycle jacket with armor, but it's very thin and doesn't keep me warm. In milder weather I wear it over an insulated flannel or hoodie. The motorcycle jacket is roomy enough for that, but I was worried that this jacket would be too bulky to wear underneath. So, as soon as it arrived I put it on, then my armored jacket over it. It feels a bit bulky, but nothing restricts my movement and overall it's about as comfortable as wearing a thick parka. So far I've ridden about 200 miles with this jacket and my riding jacket over it, and it's been absolutely fine. The battery pack is pretty large, almost the size of two cigarette packs laid next to each other. It feels bulky when you place it in the inside pocket of the jacket, but surprisingly enough you don't notice it after a couple of minutes. Charging takes a while because of the capacity so keep this in mind.So how does it work? Well, I've ridden in weather down to 35 deg. F, both in stop-and-go traffic and on the highway. Up to about 75 MPH, the cold doesn't even touch me. This was with the jacket on the medium heat setting, BTW, so there's some headroom there. I haven't tried to go much faster but I think this jacket will work fine down to at least 30F, probably a bit colder, even at highway speeds. That's impressive. At medium heat, I used up about 20% of the battery's capacity in a little over an hour. I expect this jacket to last about 6 hours at medium heat. The manufacturer claims 7.5 hours at this heat setting and maybe that's possible, but I'm a bit skeptical. For me that isn't a big deal. If I ever decide to do long-distance touring in cold weather, I'll get a plug-in jacket instead of something with a battery. That way I won't run out of heat until the bike runs out of electricity. So why only 4 stars? In a word, the zipper. It binds whenever I have to zip/unzip it. When I go to remove the jacket, it binds together at the very bottom, preventing the zipper halves from being pulled apart. It also feels fragile. I'm trying to treat it very gingerly because I don't expect it to last as long as the rest of the jacket.Something to consider if you wear this as an under-layer is that whatever you put on top can press the power/mode button. I started my last ride with the jacket turned to high heat. When I got home, I noticed that it had been switched to the medium setting by the jacket that I wore over it. This isn't a fault of the jacket, of course, but it is something to keep in mind if you layer up in the cold.Overall, this is a solid jacket at a price point that most others can't touch. I really like that there are heating elements in the sleeves as well as the torso, because my arms tend to get cold when I ride. I'm a little worried about the zipper, but if it breaks I'll either live with it or take it to a tailor to replace it with a nice, heavy duty YKK. In any case, I'm glad I bought it and so far it's been a great addition to my winter riding arsenal.
