I was looking for a simple lav mic to improve the audio on my vlog and I didn't want to spend $300-$400 to get one. Now I know you get what you pay for but in this case for about 1/4th of the price I got a decent quality lav mic with noise cancellation. It's easy to use right out of the package. Just connect the receiving unit to your USB-C port on your Android phone or get the Lightning version for your iPhone. Press the button on the mic and they are paired. No apps, to mess with or anything. There are 2 levels of noise reduction that work pretty well, even though there is no windscreen. I haven't tried them in high winds yet but I don't usually shoot in high winds anyway. I guess the only negative I would say is that you can only use it with your cell phone so if you vlog with a DSLR or GoPro then this may not be for you. If you vlog mostly from your phone and you're looking for an affordable lav mic setup you can't go wrong with the J12 from Ulanzi.

From the first time I read about this wireless system, I knew that I had to own one, I was looking for a dual transmitter wireless system and saw a few that seemed to be contenders, however when I read an article about this system that Ulanzi was about to release and what it offered for $99 I stopped looking and began to wait for the release date, and sure enough when it started being reviewed on YouTube, there was no doubt in my mind. I kept track of when it became available on Amazon and waited on my opportunity to order mine which was December last year, I live in the Caribbean, so I use a freight forwarding service and due to the holiday close off time of my shipper, I got mine on the first business day in January this year and about two weeks later I did my first paid gig which was a two person interview and it performed like a champ, since then I used it on many projects, paid stuff, church stuff and personal stuff and I have always been happy with the results. The on-board recording gave me peace of mind when I was tasked to cover the first public speech of my country's newly installed Chief Justice at a police academy passing out ceremony, The Ulanzi U-Mic AM-18 punches way above its price point and I anticipate many good years of pristine audio with it in my video kit.

So why in the world would anyone in their right mind return something that's almost perfect? It really came down to it meeting about 80% of my needs, but the other 20% was very, very important. First of all, the sound quality is wonderful. And, unlike the replacement that I purchased, the lightning plug fit through a pretty heavy duty phone case which was nice. Those are two of the main things that I wanted, however there was more. I ended up spending a lot more for the Comica Vimo S because it comes with deadcats, has an easy to use gain function, and a very efficient case. The downside is that I did have to purchase an adapter so that the lightning plug would fit into my phone through the case. I'm sure that there's an absolutely perfect wireless Lavalier system out there, but I already know that my budget would not approve. Most of my wireless/phone photography gear is Ulanzi, so it broke my heart to have to return it. That said, I highly, highly recommend it because it was, as I said before, nearly perfect. It's just that my particular needs exceeded what it could supply.

I use these for my YouTube videos and they get the job done. Good mic system and a very decent price. They hold a charge that will cover a full day of use. Just make sure you pay attention to the connection for your device.

This mic is good if you’re gonna hold it up to your mouth when you speak but the quality deteriorated as soon as I tucked it on my collar so yea, choose wisely
