United Scientific™ Reagent Bottle, Polypropylene Wide Mouth, 1000ml, 1-Pack | 32 oz Capacity, Autoclavable, Leakproof Seal Ring, BPA and Phthalate Free, RoHS Compliant, Wide Mouth Bottles with Caps

Note: this bottle is made of food-grade plastic. The product info on Amazon doesn't mention it, but you can find a statement saying so on the company's website. I use it for mixing and storing meal replacement drinks, and it seems to work well so far. Comparing this (4L polypropylene bottle) to a Nalgene brand 2L high-density polyethylene bottle I own, it find the material to be sturdier / more rigid, which could be a good or a bad thing. It's not as smoothly machined as the Nalgene bottle - you can easily see and even feel the seams in the plastic where edges of plastic sheets were joined together. The Nalgene bottle's cap is a single piece of plastic that screws on with a snug fit, whereas this bottle's cap is not as perfectly fitted and comes with a rubber ring inside to ensure it seals properly. The rubber ring needs to be removed and washed separately, which is an extra hassle compared to the Nalgene bottle. Perhaps it's inevitable due to the materials, though; it may be that this bottle's rigidity makes it harder to get a good seal without a rubber ring, whereas the Nalgene bottle is more pliable, allowing its cap to "bite into" the lip a bit. The rigidity also means that if the pressure in the bottle changes (e.g. if you put in a hot liquid, close it, and let it cool), it can be difficult to wrestle the cap open again, so watch out for that. Other reviewers have mentioned this, but the bottle doesn't come with any "United Scientific" branding on it. Instead, it has "PolyLab" and "4000mL" embossed on the bottom. I don't think that means it's counterfeit - if you look up import records, PolyLab appears to be an Indian company that serves as a supplier / manufacturer for United Scientific, so I wouldn't be too worried. Other than those points, I'm generally pretty happy with this bottle. It's twice as large as my Nalgene 2L bottle but costs significantly less, and works about as well for my purposes. (Actually better, thanks to the size.) EDIT: 6 MONTH UPDATE I'm still very happy with this bottle. No issues have come to light over the last six months that I hadn't already covered in my initial review. It works great and is a good value.

It’s hard plastic no label or brand name. For me it’s ideal cheap and cost about halph of the other 32oz wide mouth with brand. Anyways needed it for my bug out bag, from the other reviews it said leak proof so adds to it for dry protection. Most likely going to buy another

As a medium to long distance dog walker I carry up to five of these full in my backpack daily. Full liter volume, tight lid, tough and light weight make them ideal for what I use them for. I can take my pack off and drop it to the ground without damaging these containers. These are dishwasher safe and BPA free. The dogs and I drink out of these almost every day. As I bought six and carry five the last one is kept 3/4 full in the freezer as an ice pack/water source for small coolers.

I love these bottles. I do not use them scientifically, but use them to carry liquids when I travel. I’ve used them for shampoo, vinegar, and olive oil when I am vacationing in a condo and don’t want to buy a whole great big bottle of olive oil etc. The seal is secure and they hold just enough that I can carry them in my carry on if I choose to or or pack them in my checked bag baggage. I do always put them inside of a sealable baggie. Just in case. They also are very sturdy bottles. I’ve had others that are a bit flimsy.Love these bottles.

These are nice but do not shake, thinking that what’s inside will not leak out. It will, in spite of the rubber grommet.

Good plastic bottle. Has many uses.

These bottles are a great accessory for backpacking trips where you have to haul out your human waste. You will need some garbage bags (preferably the ones designed for use in portable toilets) and poo gel and a little dry bleach crystals for odor control. Basically, you do your job in the garbage bag, pour over the poo gel, close up the bag and tie it off (without much air in it), and then stuff it inside this bottle which should have about a tablespoon of dry bleach crystals in the bottom. These bottles secure your waste without odor and in a crush-proof bottle. When you need to go again, just add another bag to it. We found that you could get at least three bags of waste inside these bottles. It definitely beat the Wag Bag option if you know what those are.

Small bottles with wide mouth which are easy to fill with both powders and liquids. These are very handy for travel and backcountry camping trips, especially where weight and size are important.
