De luxe product but over-priced
On receiving the product it look very well presented and packaged. It gave the feeling of expense and quality in the nice black box with a gold sleeve printed with the picture of the hair styler. The styler is really nice to hold. I straightened my hair, but I was quite surprised it didn't live up to my expectations, especially considering they were not cheap. I was hoping there would be more of a sleek and smooth gliding action but I don't think they were that much different to my old straighteners for which I only paid £40.There is a plastic cover for the plates when not in use and on the plus side there is an automatic switch off if not used for 30 minutes. A downside is that they do not come with a nice cotton bag or pouch to store them in when not in use.I also tried them on my granddaughter's hair which is thicker and smoother than mine and it glided better. On the whole I am not sure they are worth the extra price.

Back to the best. GHDs for people with lots of hair.
Well this is a surprise. I'd sort of fallen out of love with GHDs a bit as so many new models have come on the market, and although I still have and use my 2006 ones, I hadnt been temted by the Vs. My hair is thick but only shoulder length, and has a pronounced wave rather than curls, so I hadnt really seen the necessity for wide plates for myself, though I have used them on others. My first thought on plugging thes in was that they are a bit ungainly. They beep (twice on turning them on) then after a few seconds beep again (3 beeps like "jingle bells") to say they are up to temperature. No waiting, no messing about changing temp, just on and off you go.In the hand they are unquestionably nicer than any other brand I have used. No rough edges, smooth ergonomic design, the ends of the plates are well protected so even on first use I didnt accidentally burn myself. Easy to thread through hair to do the under bits (you'll know what I mean if you are a straighteneer!).The cord is lighter and more flexible than many too, and theres a neat little blade shield in the sturdy designery box so you can easily and tidily put them away. I would probably still take a smaller pair on holiday jsut for space, but these will do very nicely for the morning effort.Really really qucik to do the whole head, and the results! Just lovely. Straight, shiny, and leaves me wondering why I ever wandered form the GHD path.

Stylish & compact, usual great ghd stylers with broad plates. Complete with split ends cream in presentation gift box.
Beautifully presented for gift giving in a luxurious black and gold box, these are minimalist luxury ghds. The set comprises the ghds and a tube of advanced split end therapy, which is an intensive conditioner that claims to utilise heat to mend split ends. The straighteners first. These are a lovely compact size, great for travel, easier to store. The plug is lightweight and also nicely compact, There is a swivel cord on the straighteners and a generous cable length, useful if you have to trail a cable across the carpet or floor to sit on a bed and style your hair. The control switch is sensibly placed on the inside of the handle and is impossible to activate accidentally. It's also easy to operate, no more fiddly buttons to press with hair-damp fingers. The broad flat plates mean that these aren't as versatile as some rounded straighteners in putting a flick or curl at the end of your hair. What they do is leave your hair beautifully straight and ready for any final styling. The ghd logo flashes amber above the on-off switch as it heats up, giving the user a very clear visual indicator. In use it's a breeze, just as ghd's always are. There's no threat of singeing, no unpleasant smells or wisps of smoke. The swivel cord means that there is no danger of the cord twisting or tangling. After you have got your desired results and switched your ghds off, there's an innovative vented hard plastic sleeve to slip over the end of them. Useful if you don't have a safety mat to hand.I got mixed results with the split end therapy which is a greyish-white cream, closely resembling a Toni and Guy styling cream that I've used for years. . The first time I used it, I was disappointed as it made my ends look greasy - I think my very fine, flyaway hair was a little bit past being towel dry.The second time was much better. It was nice to have a full sized product in the box, even if finding on the shelves in stores might be tricky. The ghds are the main focus however and I absolutely love them. A storage bag would have come in useful, but the box is certainly made well enough, for long-term storage. Still five stars

Fantastic product in a great gift set
I'm often of the opinion that "you get what you pay for" isn't always the guarantee it seems. But here it most certainly is.Yes, there are other "comparable" products that are cheaper...but they're simply not comparable. The ghd V Max Styler is a cut above the norm. These eschew too much complication; they're easy to work straight out of the box with little need to read any instructions. They heat up quickly are a breeze to use and have a fantastic result at the end.The hair product that comes with it is a nice bonus too, as part of a lovingly packaged gift set. That makes it ideal for not just personal use but as a gift as well.
