Series just keeps getting better!
This is book #2 in The Fighting Series and it follows Blake and Layla. You should remember Blake from Fighting to Forget. If you adored Blake in book #1 (which, how could you not), you will fall madly in love with him in this book. To be honest, I really thought that when Blake got his own book it would be with Eve, but trust me, Layla is perfect for him. This book is told from both Layla and Blake's POV. I am not an author (obviously), but I can only imagine the challenge that authors face when they make the decision to write their book from the perspective of both the H and h. Once again, Ms. Salsbury is able to accomplish this amazingly. I always feel that when the reader is able to really get into the head of both of the main characters it really makes the story that much richer, especially if the author does it well. So hang on, because this book is phenomenal and is going to take your emotions on one helluva ride.Layla is new to Las Vegas, transplanted from Seattle. She has moved with her 16 year old daughter, Axelle (Elle) Rose (fantastic name, right?). I'm sure you remember in book #1, when Blake laid down his law for not getting involved with women who come with baggage, i.e. a kid. Well, Layla not only comes with her kid, but enough baggage to fill several 747's. I'm going to give you the rundown, but I am really going to try and not spoil a whole lot for you, because to say you need to take the journey on your own, is an understatement. Layla got pregnant with Elle when she was just 16 and her parents forced her into marrying Elle's father, Stew. The marriage was full of abuse (of all kinds), so when the opportunity comes, she leaves. She lands a job working at the UFL training center and that is where she first meets Blake.I really loved Blake in the first book. Even though he was somewhat of a man whore, he was super lovable and really funny (great combination). This book will lead you into Blake's demons, which after you discover them, your heart will open even more for him. Of course, Blake doesn't really understand what it is he is feeling towards Layla. While he may say he doesn't get involved with moms, after he meets Elle, you can see his tight reign on his "rules" start to loosen. On a side note, do you remember Killian from book #1? Here's a refresher, he was the kid at the airport that Jonah meets while waiting to pick up Jonah's mom. He becomes fast friends with Elle in this book, so I hope I'm seeing a Elle/Killian book in the future (fingers crossed). The drama that is loaded in this book, does not disappoint. From Layla's own demons that causes her times to be what some would call "crazy", but it's easy to understand where her head is at. Because of Blake's past, it is very difficult for him to see that Layla's intentions are pure and that causes his own internal battle. I will spoil this (not really a spoil), it is worth reading about the demons they face, just to witness the ending they get. Here is what I LOVED about this book. First, I love that she is older than him. Call me want you want, but that sh*t is hot. The sex scenes in this book rock. She did a fabulous job with really taking your imagination where it needed to be during EVERY sex scene. One of the back stories in this book, is music, and the main focus of that music is rock n' roll, and I shouldn't have to say anything further. In my opinion, Ms. Salsbury's ability to develop the supporting characters is magnificent (I'm running out of verbs to describe how amazing this book is). Jonah and Raven are in this book, and there is actually some attention paid to them, they're not just a blip on a page. Eve also makes an appearance, and I really like her, so I am ecstatic that she is getting her own book (#4). The other characters aren't mentioned a whole lot, but you do get a feel for who they are.All in all, fantastic read, very well done and I cannot wait to continue this series.

FIghting for More than a Win
OMG!!! OMG!!! OMG!!! We never thought Blake would swoop in and knock Jonah off the throne, but OH Baby! Blake is everything you are looking for...even when you are afraid to admit it. And when Layla walks into his empty life he doesn't know how to react. We first met Blake back in Fighting for Flight, when he helped his best friend Jonah save his girlfriend Raven from her pimp daddy! LOL! So now we got Blake packaged up in a HOT book of his own, and we still got to check in on Jonah and Raven...and even Eva's crazy arse.Back to Mr. "I don't do women with kids." Blake is still up to his old routines...sleeping around and avoiding any forms of commitment. But he is so damn funny you almost forget he is a chauvinistic pig! LOL! 'All three girls from last night. Pushing up to my elbows, I count the legs to make sure. All of them are long, slender, toned, and hairless. Except one. Oh Sh%t. Please - I wiggle my toes, and the toes on the hairy leg wiggle. Thank God.' As a woman you almost wished it was a hairy man in bed with him, just to teach his arse a lesson!Layla enters from stage left - single mother, escaping an abusive marriage...she is just looking for a clean start for her and her daughter, Elle. Let me tell you her daughter's legal name is freaking Axelle Rose...seriously how cool is that? Only JB Salsbury would deliver such a rocking name like Axelle Rose (for all you 90's babies that is the lead singer for Guns N' Roses). Any who...Layla walks into Blake's life and both of their worlds are turned upside. But please don't think for one minute that this book is just about bringing them two together. No ma'am this book has years of lies and secrets buried deep, but OH MY when they surface you can do nothing but shake your damn head. The most jaw dropping moment was when Layla's douchebag husband talks about the night he hooked up with her at the party (that conceived Axelle)...OMG if at anytime you can reach inside a book and strangle someone - he would be your first pick! "You don't want her. She's garbage. Even back in high school, no one stepped up." Let's just say Blake shows him how much he wants Layla. One of the favorite things about the book is...Blake's subconscious! We loved how JB Salsbury relayed what he was really feeling...Loved it. Like we said earlier Blake is freaking hilarious. One of our favorite moments...Layla had just shared the life she had with her husband and why she finally left for Vegas with Axelle, and Blake is ready to hunt him down. "Write it down. Address, phone number, social security number, whatever you've got." He taps the pad of paper. "I want it all." At this point Layla is confused she don't know what the heck he is talking about...but don't worry Blake is sure to break it down for her. "Don't want to scare you, sweetheart, but this sh%t's ending now. Some guys need to be taught a lesson. Your ex is one of those guys. And I'm the man to teach it. Write it down." How can you not love Blake? There are plenty of tear jerking moments, but one of our eye balling moments...at Axelle's 17th birthday party and Blake gets on the stage and sings Guns N' Roses's "Sweet Child of Mine." But it's not the fact that he is singing this song to her that makes you weepy...it's when he ask Axelle if he could be her dad. Lord, I could not stop the tears from falling. "I love you, Axelle Rose. We have a pretty kick-ass opportunity here. We get to choose who we claim as family. I choose your mom, and you. It's your life, and I'll be here for you no matter what you decide. It's your choice." Dam% it man, I need some tissue right now!Stop waiting...1-click Fighting to Forgive now! You will not want the book to end, believe us you will be begging for more Blake! There is so much to LOVE about this book! A standing ovation to JB Salsbury on a great sequel.

Not a patch on book 1
I waited what seems like forever for this book, for me it feels like a let down, it got high rating, yet for me, it's not a patch on book 1. I found it hard to connect to the characters and the plot, at times I skimmed and excitement I had for this book went out the door and was quickly replaced by confusion, frustration and at times anger I was like wtf happened?Blake remains the same throughout this book, it was Layla who killed it for me, she is weak with low self esteem, hence why the name mouse, unlike other books, her character lacked any back bone; for me she ruined the book. Her character w boring and predictable, with the weak minded decisions, jealousy and irrational accusations, the constant flitting with her insecurities made her in to a right weak drip. Highly annoying to the point where I wanted to,shake her and say how stupid are your thoughts and actions woman, get a grip.I couldn't take to this book and forced myself to finish it. I know it's one review but it's a review in how I found the book and I won't be buying any future releases, for me it was a big disappointment

A sequel which beats the first in the series. Fantastic read.
4.5 Snake loving starsWow. I can't believe Salsbury managed to out-do the first novel. How often is the sequel better than the first in a series? Nearly never. I loved Fighting For Flight, but this was even better.Blake 'The Snake' Daniels, MMA fighter and playboy. He's never been in a relationship. Bring in Layla. Lovely Layla who has moved to Vegas with her daughter to escape a horrific marriage. I fell in love with them both. The more we hear of Layla and her horrendous husband, the more I wanted to shout, scream, kill or maim. The chemistry between her and Blake was created brilliantly and Salsbury created two characters who had appeal and depth. As their story unfolded I found myself completely engrossed, even holding the kindle in one hand whilst stirring pots as dinner was being made with the other.I can't wait for April 15th when the next in the series comes out. Countdown has begun.

LOVED IT ... LOVED IT
After just this minute reading the reviews on here about this book I have realised that I have read out of order, arghhhh - wish Amazon would put Book 1, 2 etc after the title of series books. Anyway ... back to the review - I reeeeeaaaally loved this book so know I am going to love Book 1 as well (which I have just downloaded) if people are saying that they preferred that one. I found this book really easy to read and couldn't put it down. A great story and great characters - keep them coming (hopefully I will pick them up in order now, hahahaha)
