Great replacement for TrackMan Wheel
I loved the Logitech TrackMan Wheel but Logitech stopped making them and after all these years mine were starting to have issues so I went looking for something to replace it. I tried a couple different track balls and even a vertical mouse but I didn't like any of them as well as the Logitech. Then I stumbled onto this trackball. I have tendonitis in my wrist so using a standard mouse causes me pain in my wrist all the way up through the top of my hand and fingers. This trackball is great. It is very close in style to the TrackMan Wheel. It is a little bigger but still feels comfortable to my hand. Works well without any issues - I just plugged it in and it worked. Just a note that there are really not any instructions with this and what little it comes with are not in English. But you shouldn't really need it. The only issue I had is that the ball wasn't very smooth when I first got it. I just took it out (pops out easily from underneath) and cleaned it off really well with a soft cloth and it works great now. I would highly recommend this to anyone searching for a replacement for their TrackMan Wheel.

the older offerings were actually better in a lot of ways (even without the optical ...
I have used (or tried) just about trackball (specifically thumb balls) over the last 20 years.Believe it or not, the older offerings were actually better in a lot of ways (even without the optical balls), but the don't make them anymore. Or you will pay hundreds for a used one which may not have compatible drivers anymore.Anyway, the offerings are slim pickings nowadays. You have the barely acceptable Logitech (which is designed for smaller hands really). The ELECOM could be a winner, but it doesn't a "middle button" click as a software option (even though the button is there)...a really bad move on their part. This one is very basic, but has a good ball and works well. The size is a little bigger than others, which is nice (though still small for my large hands). The right button is a little big and sort of puts the ring finger in no mans land...but acceptable.Overall, I think this will be my go to trackball because of comfort. It allows my fingers to be more straight than the others, which feel more like being curled up in a ball. It is definitely worth a shot if you like thumb balls and find the others less than ergonomic or user friendly.

Awesome alternative to Logitech Trackballs/Marble mouse.
Well just got this mouse, even a day early straight from Japan. I have been using the Logitech marble mice since the early 90's and have not gone back to regular mice. My hand actually falls asleep when using regular mice. This track ball is bigger, the body is larger then the Logitech one I use now ( Logitech Logitech Trackman Wheel Optical (Silver) .) It fit great in my hand and the bigger ball makes it easy to use. I also really love the quick response it has right out of the box, just so snappy. Some others have mentioned that the ball cannot be taken out so you cannot clean the contacts inside. That is incorrect. under the body of the track ball there is a access hole just like the Logitech trackballs. All you have to do is insert the eraser end of a pencil in the hole and the ball pops out and you can clean the insides. I got the red model, and it looks like a red race car paint job, real glossy. So all in all, this is a great alternative to the Logitech Trackballs/Marble mice. Great price and so far works great. Will do an update a few months from now to add how well/poor the performance has been in the long term.

Does not work
I recently ordered, received, and promptly returned the trackball. Reason: It did not work. The cursor would not move with the ball. Everything else worked (buttons, wheel) which shows that my laptop "saw" the mouse. I tried it both on my Mac and my wife's PC - same result. Very disappointing.

Finally a wired trackball again, some weird deadzones though.
I have been a Logitech trackball user for 12 years, I was very disappointed when they stopped making a wired version. I went ahead and purchased logitech m570, it lasted me a year and started failing. I was searching amazon again for some alternative and found this Sanwa. My first impressions were Yikes, it's about 1 inch longer and has more of an open palm feel. The ball is about 25% larger as well. I am a FPS gamer and noticed there are some deadzones on the ball, When my thumb is all the way on the right side and I try to move up and down I get 90% of the movement cut, so the cursor just barely moves up and down. I'm not sure why this is, perhaps the placement of the eye underneath?I'm going to stick with it and see how it goes, I am slowly getting accustomed to it.

Great trackball. I used a Logitech trackball for years
Great trackball. I used a Logitech trackball for years, not just for general use but also for computer drafting which takes some detailed movement. When I got this trackball I thought I was in for a bad time and at first I thought I had chosen poorly. The pointer moved around the screen so fast I wasn't sure that I would be able to use it. I turned down the speed a little through Windows settings and it was still faster than I was used to but after about 4 days I have gotten used to it. Also, I find that my hand position is more comfortable than with the Logitech. It took a little adjusting of my arm position at first. I have to place my hand back a little more so my whole palm rests flatly on it. Once I did that I found that I have less arm fatigue. The red laser that reads the ball leaks around the ball and glows through the translucent wheel which give it a sexy look in a dark room. Also, love the red metallic finish. Hope it gives me 4-5 years of use.

The trackball seems OK. Instructions included DO NOT INCLUDE ENGLISH LANGUAGE but only Chinese Korean Japanese and some other Eastern language. If you want to be able read the instructions, don't buy this! Unbelievable that this company does NOT include instructions in the internationally accepted world language of ENGLISH! I lowered my rating from 5 stars to 2 stars because of this "language issue".

Superb Trackball
When I was trying to decide which Trackball to replace my beloved Logitech with, I read reviews that stated that this item was inferior. Some of the complaints were that it was too big, the ball wasn't great, or the user had problems with the speed of the cursor. My hands are small, but I have found that I really like the way my hand sits on this mouse, even better than my Logitech. And I kept the ball that was in my Logitech, as was suggested, but I haven't needed it. I've had no problems what so ever. As far as the cursor speed goes, after I changed it in settings, I have no issues. I would definitely recommend and buy again if the need arised.

Very pleased with this!
I really wanted the Logitech Trackman wired (I've had nothing but problems with the wireless versions), but they are apparently not being made anymore, so I decided to take a chance on this one as a comparable option. It arrived today (on time and well-packed) and it worked perfectly right out of the box. It's hard to tell from the image because it looks so similar, but this trackball is both slightly larger and slightly lighter than the trackman, with a more gradually sloping grip, so the heel of your hand is well supported, even for someone with very large hands like me. The ball itself is also larger than the trackman ball. The buttons are nice and clicky, the scroll wheel has a satisfying amount of resistance. It doesn't have the two extra navigation buttons the trackman does, but honestly I never used them anyway, so it's not a detriment to me. My only real complaint is that the more gradual slope and slightly larger size makes it a bit more difficult to lift off the desk and move around, but that's an incredibly minor gripe against what I am pleased to say seems to be an excellent product. It also has a red LED in it! I had no idea, so it caught me by surprise.

Excellent value.
Outstanding value product that fills a real gap in the market. I'm still in mourning for the original wired Logitech Trackman Wheel but have been using the M570 with my laptop for two or three years now and have been using the T-RB22 on my workstation for longer. This device feels like a combination of the best of both; it has the desktop "presence" and large diameter ball of the T-RB22 but controlled by the thumb and with the added scroll/zoom capabity afforded by a wheel with very positive "feel".Been using it for a week and adapted to it immediately. Despite its size, it feels flatter than the M570. This means that your wrist doesn't rotate outward as much when cupping the device. This may not suit all users with RSI issues but for me it was negligible.Works faultlessly with Linux too. That's enough for me.Switches are a little noisy but very accurate and responsive. Cable length is sufficient. My only criticism would be that it lacks weight. When I get around to opening it up, I guess I'll hot-glue some heavy washers or similar to the baseplate. Other than that, I'm delighted. Great value for money.Retail pack was well packaged for shipping. Arrived within a couple of weeks despite Customs.

Decent mouse if you want a wired trackball.
Comfortable to use, the mousewheel is a little glitchy sometimes, but otherwise works well. (This mouse was bought for my husband and that is the review he gave for it. Personally, I think that as someone not used to trackball mouses, it's very uncomfortable trying to navigate with it. So if this is your first time using a mouse like this just note that there might be a bit of a frustrating learning curve. He has no problems with it however, and uses it for regular browsing as well as gaming.)
