Comparison of Flexi Classic and Comfort
I bought the Flexi Classic but decided to return it because the spindle tended to rumble, vibrate, and clatter when it was extended about 5 meters. This gave me the opportunity to buy the Flexi Comfort for a comparison.Classic Tape: Black with no visibilityComfort Tape: White with high visibilityVerdict: Comfort is the clear winnerClassic colors: Solid black with low visibilityComfort color: White and black with higher visibilityVerdict: Comfort is the clear winner. Flexi could still add reflective stitching to the tape.Classic Tape Guidance System: Tape has plenty of room to move around and is surprisingly less likely to bindComfort Tape Guidance System: Guide is square and seems more likely to cause binding.Verdict: Classic is the slight winner. Neither did not bind on me in my limited testing but feel that Comfort was more likely to bind since it would recall a little slow, which might be the intention to limit wear on the spindle while increasing wear and possible binding on the tape.Classic Handle Comfort: You feel the giant hard plastic in your hand and seems more likely to slip out of your hand due to the weight. I never did drop it, but it did feel that way.Comfort Handle Comfort: The comfort system actually does help secure your hand in the handle where you feel you will less likely drop the lease or have it ripped out of your hand, though the possibility is still there for sure.Verdict: Flexi still needs work on handle comfort, but the comfort grip does help a lot and makes the Comfort a clear winner.Classic locking mechanism: The controls are very intuitive if you aren't use to another locking mechanism. You just press down to brake and flip the small button with your finger to tock. Pull back on the smaller button to unlock. Braking mechanism is very easy to use. The plastic is comfortable to the touch and could be used for long periods of time. The downside is the braking movement is a large movement. The material is comfortable to the touch. Sometimes I fumbled with the controls, but it was likely because I wasn't use to the mechanics of it.Comfort locking mechanism: The controls are very intuitive, especially if you are not use to another mechanism. The mechanism is to push down to brake and flip the switch forward to lock and flip it back to unlock. The range of motion is shorter than the classic which makes braking, locking, and unlocking faster. The material is slick, which helps with comfort. However, the locking mechanism is very uncomfortable to the touch and wouldn't want to use it extensively for long periods of time.Verdict: The winner is unclear Classic is more comfortable but requires more range of motion to control. Comfort is less comfortable but requires a shorter range of motion. The two are otherwise identical. The large flexi leashes are large and heavy. They do seem to be of a slightly higher build quality over other retractables, but I wouldn't say one brand is a clear winner over another. The braking/locking mechanism is always odd or comfortable. The handle is always uncomfortable and is prone to having it ripped from your hand or dropped. They will all bind. They all will suffer from twisting. They will all break from chewing.Accessories can help:I have bought the light for it. It is great for night and visibility.I added a strap to my handle that I hang a soft bag dispenser and magnetic pouch for treats from the strap with an s-clip that I can easily remove and hang from another leash. I could also add a travel water bowl to the strap. I tend to carry a paper towel in pocket for accidents too.The strap isn't useful for securing the handle while using it because I am always switching hands. However, It is useful to secure it on your wrist when you need to use both hands. It is also useful for hanging accessories because most leashes lack an accessory D-ring.We have a dog who chews her leash. We use a bungie leash extender for play time and a coated steel cable leash extender for other walks. The extenders can still be chewed, but they are more resistant to damage than the retractable ribbons and are less expensive to replace. The bungie also helps with the damaging effects of hard jerks from your dog on the leash as well as the dog.Overall verdict: Comfort has a slight edge. You may prefer the comfort of the Classic's locking mechanism if you are already use to the locking mechanism and like the non-binding action of the guidance system. Otherwise, the handle comfort, bright white tape, and easier braking/locking mechanism of the Comfort might be more ideal for you.

Know your dog, know your tools
I know the dog community is split on retractable leashes. I don't care. I know what I need for MY dog and this is it. I have a sturdy training leash for outdoors, a light trainer for indoors, a 16’ classic Flexi and now this 26’ Flexi comfort tape style. The Flexi classic became a problem for my kids when accidentally trying to grab the line to hold back the dog instead of pushing the button down. They soon felt the burn. Also the dog got her legs tangled once, and that was enough for me to dislike it. It’s fine for quick out the door potty time but I needed something better for her walks. I like to give my Malinois some slack in more open areas on our walk trail and when we reach the park. I bring a small ball she can run short distances for, but also when there is no one else around I can let her explore just a bit. I have learned how to use the button and lock quite well over the past few weeks. I can keep it very short and she will walk right next to me. I can give commands for sit/stay and then she will wait for the click of the lock release and know she can roam a bit. I prefer the button lock on this version over the classic. I made a lanyard to wrap around my wrist as a back up in case I let go of the handle. The soft flat tape is great and retracts/holds just fine. Overall it’s heavier due to 26’ of tape and a larger casing/frame. My dog does not chew cord so if yours does, the tape is thin and wont last long. Training is key with any leash. This is what I needed and have no regrets on this version. I wish I got it first. If you just want it to let your dog roam the stores or airports with you so they can get tangled and annoy people, you should probably rethink your options. If you have a large spazy dog this probably isn't for you and you most likely need training time. This is not going to be for everyone or every dog. Know your dog, and find whats right for you.

Greatest retractable leash for the money
Love the brand for the hand grip. I purchased one years ago at a yard sale and we really liked the design of the hand grip. It was pink and our boy was a boy, but who cares? Anyway, tried other brands and nothing comes to the comfort of the Flexi. Actually, even searched the brand a few times with no luck. Finally came up on a search and I clicked buy as fast as I saw product. Highly recommend! Especially great for guys with larger hands as the grip has ample room. This one even offers adjustment for different sized hands. The actual leash is sturdy and of good quality as well. You know how some leashes have a little cord and then some type of cheap string? Well this brand is a nice strong and sturdy cord throughout making it less likely to knot and tangle. It’s a bit heavier than some brands, but I promise the weight is worth it.

Excellent quality and comfortable to use
I bought this leash to replace another similar leash that the dog had chewed up. I like this one a lot! It’s an improvement over my previous leash for several reasons: the leash line itself is reflective, it glides very smoothly and quietly, the stop button works well. I use that button a lot to give my dog some slack. He walks with me better when he doesn’t feel the leash pull on him. This leash is very comfortable to hold onto. I’m not using the slot for adding a poop bag holder because I already had my own poop bag holder and a poop holder. I just zip tied them both to the leash handle. Overall, very happy, I would definitely recommend this retractable leash.
