Collateral Circulation: a Medical Mystery (A Dr. Danny Tilson Novel) Review: Oustanding Medical Thriller - Another Outstanding Hit by Dr. Ebel.. I discovered her wonderful writing with the first in the series of Dr. Danny in the OR. It captivated me from the beginning and I have been a fan every since. I am truly hooked on her great Medical Thrillers. Her books are so well written and edited for smooth reading and she is truly an excellent storyteller. I have enjoyed each one in the series but I really enjoyed the the interaction with Rachel in this episode. The medical books are among my favorite genre but good ones are hard to find. And with the authors medical background these are so authentic and enjoyable to read. Dr.Ebel has become my favorite author of her medical thrillers. The characters are so well developed and I feel like I know them personally. This story has a unique twist with Dr. Danny and several of his patients. But, he has more questions than answers as he tries to unravel the connection between what is happening with them.. I think you will find the medial aspects very thought provoking and interesting. Dr. Danny faces a tornado and a whirlwind of his personal life as well as the medical situations that are very unique. I was so happy to see more interaction with the gold digger Rachael. (Danny's Ex-Girlfriend and the mother of his two year old daughter) She is the most conniving and manipulative character and I believe you will enjoy her part in this series, and true to form she sill stop at nothing to get what she wants. I was also happy to see that Leo get his due this time around. Every aspect of this story was truly exciting. I could not put the book down. You will see that Danny gets caught up in a tornado that changes his life. Also, the family dynamic are outstanding. This book is full of twist and turns that will keep you interested. and turning the pages. There is not a dull moment. I was so happy to see so much interaction with Rachel. She is up to her old tricks but she has a few surprises waiting for her as well. I highly recommend this wonderful and exciting book. If you are a new reader, I feel sure you will truly enjoy this book which stands alone. Of course, once you read this one, you will want to read the others as well. If you enjoy medical thriller and good family dynamics, you will love this book. Review: Loved it, but disappointed. - A very engaging story, very well written and medically exciting. Interesting approach to religious and spiritual growth. I did not realize it is part of a story rather than a stand-alone novel. It appears you'd have to read at least one, and maybe more, of the subsequent books to find out what happens. So I'll just go with my "best guess" that good triumphs over evil - but maybe not for three or four more books.

Just picked this up a couple days ago as I'd read the others in the series and enjoyed them. There’s a lot to like about Collateral Circulation, the third book of the series. The main characters get deeper, the medical plot is modern, and one of the antagonists continues to surprise with her depravity. And although it was a small sub-thread in this one, I was glad to see what happens to a really awful character from the last book. Dr. Ebel continues to provide medical thrillers of the highest caliber. Despite the technical background in her bio, her writing is understandable and seems quite realistic. I actually feel like I learned a bit from reading the series in a medical sense. Even if you’re not into medicine, the characters and drama of their lives will grab you. Highly recommend this one. Enjoy.

Great story!!
I continue to be amazed at how much I am enjoying Barbara Ebel's writing. I've always read medical mysteries since Michael Crichton's and Robin Cook's early works, but Dr. Ebel's books are equally compelling. I have two more books of hers to read and can't wait. I'll probably drink a Monster soda to give me the energy. Ha! Ha!

BEWARE RELIGIOUS CONTENT -OTHERWISE AN ENGAGING BOOK
Could be an excellent book with an imaginative plot line, but the religious references really put me off. I don't want my doctor to pray that his procedures go well and I certainly don't want him to invite me to pray with him. That he goes to Church is an unnecessary distraction, as is the religious diatribe. Just as books have warnings about language, sexual content and violence, books should have warnings about religious content for those of us who are literate atheists. To be fair, I have to say that if you can get past the extraneous religious parts, this book did have a great plot. I read the previous Danny Tilson books and honestly only remember enjoying them, so the main character's sudden discovery of his faith was an off-putting and unwelcome surprise.

A TRUE medical thriller!
Powerful story of a soft drink causes abnormal blood flow in the circuitry in the brain causing some people to become exceptionally smart, but causes headaches and other personality problems. If you like medical thrillers with complexities - this is it. Very good book which I found hard to put down. Dr. Tilson is still involved with a bimbo who fathered his child even though he'd like to end the relationship she hangs on.

I thought the book was very good and can't wait for #5 to come out
I thought the book was very good and can't wait for #5 to come out. The main thing I didn't like about all four books was, Danny is such outstanding and smart neuro. Surgeon but when it comes to Rachel and court about his daughter he is such a dummy. Danny knows what she is like and about the child abuse but doesnt bother checking the out come of the charges. He just dosent bother fighting for his baby.

Dr. Danny is operating when he spots an anomaly in the temporal lobe of the brain. His life changes as he tries to find out more about the cause, especially when more patients present with similar symptoms. I liked that the author didn't patronise the readers, but explained the medical terms in lay mans language. Diverse characters and a thrilling story combine to make a fascinating read. Well worth reading.

Enjoyable read as the others were, but abrupt finish with loose ends which rather spoils it. Possibly intended so you buy the next one!

Wouldn't bother. Boring. A long laborious read. Not particularly thrilling. Tried to get into the story but it never particularly went anywhere. .Wouldn't call it a medical mystery, more like a book that isn't sure of which direction to take with medical jargon thrown in. Might be useful if you need sending to sleep.
