The thing does work, but limited
I didn’t believe that this optical light bending was anything, but a gag! So, I purchased a small one to test, and it does hide objects behind it under special conditions. It bends light so that an object blends in with the background. It’s not prefect, and the background needs to be horizontal lines. Fun optical toy!

Fun
Not quite as effective of an illusion as I would have hoped, but I think that in part that is due to not installing the handle correctly; I suspect the lens works better when properly curved. That being said, my 10 year old thinks it is great fun and has really enjoyed playing with it.I suspect we could have gotten more sciency with it, but mostly around our house it has ended up just being a shield for dart gun play.

LENTICULAR “SHIELD” SHEET…
Very nice introduction to Lenticular technology, or at least the basic concepts around optical refraction. This is a neat little “shield” that diffuses light at a RAPID pace with the increasing distance one has from the focal point. Basically, you blur heavily, and within a pace or two are totally invisible. I’m sure there are all sort of military and tech industry applications to be had here, but I got this more as a curious hobbyist. Now, only to find out what I could use it for…

Large scale disappearing fun!
While this Invisibility Shield - 17"x13", Sturdy Shield with Lenticular Sheet & Transparent Acrylic Handle bar for Prank, Science wasn't able to make me fully disappear in my office so I could get some work done, it WAS a ton of fun for filmmaking experiments. We had a blast in the classroom writing and filming short skits using the lenticular shield. So many uses - it's sturdy enough to hold up to a bit of rowdiness in the classroom.Fun find and worth every penny given the engagement it incited with the students.

Small Hiding Place
This is a really neat device! Almost like a pane of invisibility glass, or a blur/censor window. There are 2 mounting handles that you can use to hold it by hand, or there are included acrylic screws and nuts so you can permanently mount it to something. The closer you, or the object you're trying to hide, is to the device, the less it works. So, if you're right next to it, it'll be obvious you're there. If you're about 2.5 or more feet behind it, it does a really good job of blurring everything so you cannot distinguish anything specific.I love it, it's fun to hide behind and surprise people!
