Product Description Amoy crushed yellow bean sauce is made in the traditional way by crushing fermented soybeans and blending them with wheat flour, salt, sugar and soy sauce. It is widely used in everyday cooking throughout china-particularly in the northern (Peking) style of cooking. Other spices and seasonings such as garlic, pepper, ginger or chilli etc. can be added to this basic sauce to form a variety of sauces. Ingredients Salted SOYBEAN (SOYBEAN (25%), WHEAT Flour, Salt, Water) Sugar, SOY Sauce (Water, SOYBEAN, Salt, WHEAT flour), Salt, Colour: E150a.

Directions Marinate the chicken cubes with sugar, soy sauce, wine, pepper and corn flour for 25-30 minutes. Heat oil in a pre-heated wok or pan. Lightly brown the chicken for 1-2 minutes, remove. In the same oil, stir-fry the garlic, spring onions and chillies for about 30 seconds, then add the yellow bean sauce. Blend well before adding the part-cooked chicken. Stir constantly for about 1-2 minutes, then add the stock or water. Bring to a boil and braise gently, covered, for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally. Finally, add the green or red peppers, blend well and cook uncovered for another minute, stirring constantly. Ensure fully cooked before serving. Serve hot. Delicious !
Bit of a challenge to read & copy out the instructions but result is delicious, chicken & cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce tastes amazing. Huge tin so I've frozen portions of it & seems to work OK.

Would buy again
Really hard to get this - nearest Asian supermarket is 1h away with no traffic- so thought I’d try Amazon. Despite very careful packing every tin was bashed(hence the 4 instead of 5 stars) probably dropped at least once in transit. Nothing wrong with the contents & make really yummy Sichuan style chilli chicken- recipe on the can

Ok
I had an unfortunate experience with this sauce as I did not realise it was concentrated. I used a few tablespoons on one dish and it was a very big mistake. This has put me off massively and I do not think I will buy it again but it was my mistake and that is why I have given it four stars. I am sure that the right person would make a lovely meal with this sauce.

Very tasty, could do with some packaging improvements
Very tasty indeed, even my fussy 5 year old loves chicken in yellow bean sauce... although he still won’t eat the cashew nuts which the rest of us think is the best part!Only issue is the cans dent during transit. Not sure that is good for your health as the tin might leak nasty chemicals???

wonderful with chicken dishes
love this with cashew nuts, water chestnuts, onions, and added chicken. So few supermarkets include yellow bean sauce as an option for a ready meal but it's delicious and makes a welcome change from black bean sauce.
