Exclusive Bass Boost Switch The cMoyBB ships with an internal bass boost toggle switch. Switched off, the original, flat audio signal is amplified. Switched on, bass is increased up to 9.4 dB, just shy of a perceived 2x increase in bass volume. Do-it-yourself builders have the option to substitute the bass boost toggle switch for a bass boost control knob. Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Most cMoys are built on protoboard and use thin wires to transfer the audio signal, making them prone to interference and signal degradation. The cMoyBB v2.03 uses a top-layer ground plane and tightly optimized signal traces, easily outperforming hand-soldered protoboard connections. Proprietary software was used during design of the PCB to check for proper impedance characteristics and negligible crosstalk. Such attention to detail cannot be achieved in protoboard amplifiers, or even in circuit boards designed by most hobbyists. Not sure what all of this means? Check out the cMoyBB reviews. Power System A Texas Instruments TLE2426 precision rail splitter and 25V, low noise Nichicon 470 uF capacitor are used to eliminate the unbalanced resistor divider power system found in standard cMoys. The cMoyBB handles more than double the voltage of most cMoys, meaning the dynamic range of high impedance headphones can be extended even further when using a high voltage DC adapter. Version 2.03 optionally allows for a second TLE2426 rail splitter, giving the cMoyBB more current handling capability than ever! The cMoyBB v2.03 also employs ceramic decoupling capacitors on all IC power pins. Decoupling helps to prevent IC supply ringing, which significantly enhances opamp stability and sound quality. With so many headphones, earphones, cables and headphone amps to choose from, it can help to know what to look for. Check out the website for reviews, comparisons, tips, specs and recommendations! This is a decent headphone amplifier and in some cases it's better than others in the same price category but personally I prefer my FiiO e11 over my cMoyBB. cMoyBB has a warm sound to it and it's definitely more bassy compared to the e11 but the e11 performs well on bass and at the same time stays true to the original sound. Another thing to note is the cMoyBB seems to distort more at higher levels than my e11 at the same volume levels (which leads me to believe it's the fault of the amp rather than my speakers) but you can't go wrong with either e11 or cMoyBB.

My cleanest, purest most delicious - sounding amp
I have purchased, and regularly enjoy, the sound of my favorite music played through a carefully chosen set of headphone amps. Most of those amps cost me many times the price of JDS Labs CmoyBB. What keeps the CMOYBB in its high place in my collection of music - listening instruments is the cleanness and sweet purity of the sound that comes through it. Sure, the more cultivated and "high-fi" sounds through my other amps are ones that enjoy tremendously. And, there's something so suave about the elegant simplicity with which the CMOYBB presents the sounds of my favorite music. With many of my really favorite pieces of recorded music, I don't consider myself to have "really heard them" until I hear them through the CmoyBB. Recently, after eight years of distinguished service in my workshop of listening tools, the CMOYBB stopped producing sound. Within 24 hours, I purchased a new one on Amazon. In the years since I purchased my first one, the CMOYBB has lost none of its clean, simple elegance that has kept me coming back to it again and again. One of these days, I'm going to have to try one of the later amps created by JDS Labs as well. But that is certainly not any indication of any dissatisfaction with the CmoyBB.

Piece of JUNK!
I got mine directly from JDS Labs.To make a long story short. These amps don't come close to living up to the hype on the JDS web site. In JDS Labs favor they did replace the first 24V amp that was defective with another amp. But the replacement they sent was also defective. The third amp they sent went directly into my junk drawer, unopened still wrapped in the aluminum foil.. I plan to give it to someone I don't like. The money back guarantee is a lie. I dealt with JDS defective products for much less than a year, yet they refused to refund my money when I asked, instead sending me one more no doubt defective amp to replace my second defective amp. Stick with Fiio headphone amps. Fiio portable headphone amps are quality. Unlike the JDS junk.

I've had mine for just over 4 months now and I love it. It's my first headphone amp so I have nothing to compare it to but I use it with an inherited set of Bose QC15, Grado SR80, a few pairs of lower end IEMs and they all sound much better.I recently bought the Audio Engine A2+ and a pair of ik Multimedia iLoud Micro Monitors and the improvement in both of them using this little gem is really breath taking.Today I'm in the market for a desktop headphone amp or amp/dac and I'm not hesitating to go with one JDS Labs model once I can make a decision.

cmoybb
I bought mine a couple years ago directly from jds labs website. I think it was about 3 or 4 years ago. I'm using Shure SRH-840's (first pair of nicer headphones) with this amp. At the time, I was looking for an inexpensive amp that performed well. I looked around online for quite a bit trying to find a headphone amp in my price range(under 100) that sounded good. I was also thinking about building a cmoy based amp as there is alot of information about them. I stumbled across a very detailed comparison review of amps around $100 and this amp was the cheapest on the list and looked to be the best performing. I couldn't justify building my own cmoy amp since by the time I bought the parts and paid for shipping I would be pretty close to the price of this one. When I received it I was happy with the build quality as it uses a printed circuit board and all of the solder joints looked great. The amplifier mount is socketed so you can swap amplifiers, although, I never have touched it since the one that it comes with is a nice all around amplifier. I was skeptical of the altoids case thinking it would have been falling apart after a short time, but mine has held up very well. As far as sound quality goes, I was pretty happy with the Shure's on an un-amplified source from my laptop, but after hooking this up I realized that I wasn't even getting near the full potential out of my headphones. They sounded incredible using this amp! It has a great all around balance in sound. And when I need to stay awake trying to complete a school project at 3am, I can turn on bass boost and blast dubstep with it sounding awesome too. If this amp was made by some brand name company, it would be easily over $100. If you look at the parts cost, you can see he sells these with very little markup. One last thing, it sounds awesome on the 9v source but even better on the higher voltage ac adapterDisclaimer: I am not an "audiophile" whatsoever. I am just a student studying mechanical engineering that spends alot of time at the library and like listening to quality balanced music.tl;dr, This is an awesome amp and I would highly recommend it.
