Complicated to get started, but works well
Here are some helpful hints for people having problems connecting the smart plugs to your wifi network. The outlets have to be set up on a 2.4 ghz wifi network. Here's the important part, your phone has to be connected to the same 2.4 ghz network, but many routers have a 5 ghz and a 2.4 ghz network to avoid interference. Your phone will almost always automatically connect to the 5 ghz network. So, you have to completely turn off your 5 ghz network by going to your router settings (enter the router IP address into your internet browser, usually something like 192.168.1.1), forcing your phone to connect to the 2.4 ghz network. Additionally, your wifi network has to be set to WPA2, or the smart plugs will not connect. Once you set up the plugs, you can turn the 5 ghz network back on (leave the 2.4 ghz network on too!), and they will stay connected to the 2.4 ghz network. Once the plugs are on the wifi network, your phone can communicate with them through the app, whether it is connected to the wifi network, or using cellular data. Most smart plugs are 2.4 ghz because of range, but you could try to find a 5 ghz plug somewhere.Once you have it set up, the app is fairly easy to use. The app allows you to set a timer, or set the outlet to turn on during certain weather events, or just turn on/off at sunrise/sunset. Plenty of great options. I wish that it was easier to set these devices up. The main problem is that the instruction booklet is written for people under the age of 30, but my parents could really use something like this. Maybe the company should try hiring somebody older than 23 to write/edit their instruction manual.

If you are having issues connecting to your WiFi Network this might be your problem
First of all, the tiny manual that came with the plugs was virtually useless and so tiny I had to get a magnifying glass to read it.It says it will only connect to 2.4 GHz wifi. Problem is most wifi networks also have 5 GHz. I checked my Pixel 3 phone and I was connected with 5 GHz so it would not allow the plug to connect.I went to my ATT router and looked on the back and copied the IP address of the router. It also had the password. Next I posted the IP address in my browser window and clicked enter. This brought up all the settings for my WiFi network. I noted the following warning:Warning: Your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network names and passwords must match to benefit from the enhanced Wi-Fi technology on your device.Your device is equipped with enhanced Wi-Fi technology, known as band steering, that is designed to provide improved in-home Wi-Fi performance by automatically optimizing the connection for each of your in-home Wi-Fi devices. For this technology to work properly and provide you with optimized Wi-Fi performance, the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password for both the 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi radios in this Wi-Fi device must match.Creating unique network names and passwords for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios will disable the optimization feature and potentially result in degraded in-home Wi-Fi performance. Both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wifi were enabled. All I had to do was to click on the enabled tab next to 5 GHz which disabled it. Then I went to bottom of the page and clicked save. At this point it asked me for the router pw and I entered it. After about 30 seconds it reset everything. I went and checked my phone and I was on 2.4 GHz WiFi.Then I went into the app and did the connection steps and it connected with no problems. After connecting both of my plugs I went back into the router software and enabled my 5 GHz WiFi. Easy peasy.

Works on Alexa and Google
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. These outlets work perfectly once you have them connected! Mine wouldn’t connect over WiFi, so I had to use wlan which was a little more tedious — but still not difficult! Only took about 10 minutes for both plugs to get set up on 30mb internet via AT&T. Mine are set up on both Alexa and Google, but the following video is using google :)

Fast set-up
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. Ohhh yeaah , i am inlove with this. I just got it a few minutes ago and i set both of them up in less than 5 mins. It works really great with my echo spot. I had a problem with my light because whenever i wake up for work i am to lazy to wake up and turn on the light to wake me up more. So tomorrow i am kind of excited to not have to get up and turn on my light and rest for a little before actually getting ready .This socket was really easy to set up. Packaging came in really great with a manual that told me step by step. But to be honest all i needed was the app and from there i had set it up with ease
