Review: Beautifully Peaceful - I have quite a few ocean sound CD's that I use to help me sleep and I have to admit this one is one of my favourites, it isn't as loud as some of my other tracks, it is a very gentle ocean. The entire download consists of waves just gently trickling on to the beach, theres no roaring tide, just gentle small waves, reminding me of a beach we regularly visit, a small beach (more like a cove surrounded by high cliffs) called North Landings at Flamborough near Bridlington. I sometimes use this download to help me study as it so calming a gentle, I find my mind can focus on the job in hand better when this is playing in the background. Review: Preventing manslaughter on trains - I live way out west. I travel in the train's quiet coach and used to spend my life quarrelling with people who were making 'just one quick phone call'. I bought an ipod and noise cancelling headphones and this, which is the only thing I have downloaded, and I keep it on loop. My life has changed. Against the soothing crash of waves, I can once again read and work. In the few seconds of silence as the cycle begins again, I sometimes hear a stir in the carriage around me. It is somebody else, quarrelling with someone about their noisy conversations or mobile phone calls. They should get sorted and buy this.

Hubby and I like to have relaxing music when we go to bed
Hubby and I like to have relaxing music when we go to bed. This is different in that it's the sound of the sea. We love it. Very relaxing.

Good product - but needs some EQ
I purchased this CD to help me sleep and have found it helpful. I have needed to spend some time getting the sound right though, as too much bass level can make it sound like trying to sleep during a storm. It also needed balancing to prevent a white noise sound. Luckily, I have these facilities on my CD player... Overall, I would recommend this CD, as it has helped me to relax and tune out much of the traffic noise outside my window.

No music or other terrible sounds to spoil the wonderful tranquil quality of the noise waves make as they gently break on the shore. Perfect.

Excellent for Relaxation.
Purchased this CD to use during relaxation sessions for clients at work. It is perfect as a background soundtrack especially when visualising about relaxing on a tropical beach. Although it initially starts off quiet, the volume gradually increases then stays consistent and lasts for over one hour which is plenty long enough and means the session isn't interrupted by the CD finishing. As the soundtrack is recorded from nature there is some natural variation & interest and the clients find it very relaxing.

Lulling lullaby of waves
As a recent tinnitus sufferer this cd was recommended to aid falling asleep. It's been doing a sterling job and i can't recommend it highly enough.

Not a continuous recording of the same waves...so unnatural and annoying!
Bought after reading positive reviews... but was disappointed - it sounds like a bunch of different wave recordings stuck together...so every successive wave sounds different - not exactly natural! Part of the calming charm of listening to the sea is the repetitiveness of the sound...with just subtle differences with every wave - I just found this annoying. Don't want to listen to it for long enough to verify other reviews' claims that it's a 3 minute loop.

This does the trick
A lifelong insomniac living on a street corner in a busy town, I needed this disk to mask the sounds of car doors slamming and people making Indy 500 U-turns under my window. No complaints at all with this disk: no birds to jolt you awake, no fog-horns, just waves on the beach. It is soft in places, and fades to quiet at the very end but that's not necessarily a problem. Sounds like the waves at Assateague on a mild surf day.

Relaxing!
Love this CD. Nothing but the sound of the waves. I like that there is no music in the background to distract from the sound of the ocean. A few birds wouldn't hurt as that would be the most natural, but all in all, I love how relaxing it is to just hear the waves.

LOVE the CD, but think the first one wore out!
I waited a long time for exactly this recording ... just ocean waves, with nothing extraneous added ... no bird sounds, no new age music, etc. I bought my first copy of this CD in June of 2011, and began to play it at night on a continuous loop in my Bose wave player. This means that the CD played continuously for approximately 8 - 10 hours every day for about 8 months. Everything was great until about a month ago (March of 2012), when I began to hear annoying clicking noises on the CD, especially in the "early" part of the (single) track. I removed the CD from the Bose machine and examined it visually. I don't know exactly what I thought I'd see ... after all, I'm not sure how the CD would even have become dirty or scratched, as it has been living full-time, sealed up in the Bose machine by my bed. Still, dirt and/or scratches seemed an obvious thing to look for. But I saw no evidence of these, or of any other kind of damage on the "playing" surface of the disc. I assumed next that the problem must be with my player, but when I tried other CDs in it, they played fine. I put this one back in, and it was immediately back to the clicking noises (and strange little skips/spinning sounds). I've become addicted to having this CD going at night, so I came back to Amazon and ordered a new disc. It arrived today, and I've tried it in the Bose machine ... perfect, no clicking noises. I wouldn't have thought it possible to "wear out" a CD, because I thought the nature of the playback technology made CDs immune to that kind of damage. But I'm at a loss to explain what else could have happened here ... and I admit I'm a little worried that perhaps the quality of the CD media used in this recording isn't the best it could be (from an archival standpoint)? Obviously, I don't want to have to keep buying the same CD over and over. I tried burning a copy of the new CD via Rhapsody, so that I could just play the copy and keep my original disc pristine to use as a "master" if the same problem happens down the road, but the burned copy functions terribly in the Bose ... lots of skips and spinning. I don't know if this is a result of some kind of copy protection mechanism. If so, it's a little frustrating. After all, I'm not trying to cheat the manufacturer out of their due for creating a great recording; I'm simply trying to protect my own investment in a disc that should last essentially forever, if cared for properly ... and myself against having to pay over and over again to replace something I've already legitimately purchased (now twice). :-) Anyway, I'll keep my fingers crossed that the second CD lasts longer than the first one did, and I'll post a follow-up if it doesn't. But as for the recording itself, I really love it. It's perfect. None of the other CDs I've tried -- rain, waterfall, etc. -- is as relaxing as this one. I think it must have something to do with the rise and fall of the waves ... a gentle, unpredictable rhythm. Very soothing.
