Better alternative to motorcycle batteries
I was actually shipped the higher capacity (LFX18L1-BS12) battery by mistake, which is rated for 270CCA. It still fits fine in my bike with plenty of free space, but the battery terminals are reversed from side to side. Fortunately, there is enough slack in my bike's battery cables to reach in the reversed polarity orientation. Or, I will just mount the battery rotated 180 degrees on its back side (which I assume is still acceptable with this type of battery). It should work just as well either way when shimmed for a tight fit in the battery box with the foam spacers provided.I also purchased the Shorai Charge and Store Battery Management System unit since I tend to leave my bike in long term storage. In fact, I sometimes put my bike in storage for over a year at a time. A new LiFePO4 battery and BMS go great together. I probably could have continued to use my existing Battery Tender on this battery if only for long term storage purposes, but the Shorai unit can do "cell balancing" supposedly contributing to longer battery life. I got a whooping 9 years out of my old "sealed" Pb-acid Yuasua battery on a Battery Tender, so this new technology lithium iron battery should remain in good health for at least as long.If nothing else the weight savings is significant and everyone can certainly brag about that! This new battery technology is extremely light weight and takes up much less space, requires less maintenance and should last considerably longer than any of the older Pb-acid battery types still in common usage for last 100 years.. Eventually, the price will come down on lithium batteries, which are probably already much cheaper, safer and greener to manufacturer.

Wish my experience were as good as others' reviews....
I am disappointed in this battery's performance. It's smaller than stock by 50%, it's lighter than stock by well over 50%, so you'd think it would be great. Unfortunately, this Lithium Ion battery that is supposed to be a match for the OEM lead acid sealed battery in my Road Star doesn't live up to its billing. After carefully matching the OEM model number against the sizing chart for this battery and double-checking with multiple references to make sure I got the right unit, once installed this battery lacks the cold-cranking amps to turn my big V-twin engine over when the temperature drops below 40 F. To me, that's absolutely not acceptable because I live and ride in the Seattle area and 4 months of the year, morning temps are 40 F or below.I'm really surprised at this poor performance, because every other review on this battery is very positive, with most talking about better cranking performance, not the poor experience I've had. Maybe I just got a bad apple....

A very TRICK part!!!
I love these batteries. I put one on an XR250R dualsport conversion, made a bracket to install in rear fender bag, and works really well. I bought one for my 650 V-Strom and while weight wasn't as big an issue on this bike, with the way I ride it off road, less weight beating on battery tray and such is a plus. When the battery came in, I left it in the shipping box and tossed it to coworkers to see if they could figure out what was in the box. They were astonished it was a bike battery, and astounded when it was compared to old bike battery. I put original battery on scale, came in at 9.4 pounds, felt like what it is, full of lead & water. I put the Shorai on the scale, measured less than 1 pound & you would swear it was just an empty case, no lead & no liquid!!! Will have to see on longevity, but after 6 months, no problems to note.

Amazingly light weight and small
I can not believe how lightweight and small this battery is. It is almost comical how light it is compared to the traditional, OEM style, but spins the motor with authority. If there is any downside, you have to apply the supplied foam sheets to take up the extra room left over in the battery box, but it is simple to do and they give you plenty of foam in case you mess up. Truly amazing technology. Will never run another leaky, heavy OEM style battery again.

love it
I always bought these batteries because I ride my motorcycle in the winter. I just changed from Honda to a Yamaha & the Yamaha is not a winter bike...needs a few starts before you know where the choke should go. My Yausa battery didn't stand the test, but Shorai always comes through and true! :)

The world's best battery?
This in my second Shorai battery. I installed the battery in a custom battery box I built for my bike so, when it breathed it's last breath, I had to get another just like it. The battery weighs about a pound which is 7 pounds lighter that the original battery my bike came with. It also doesn't require that it be connected to a maintenance charger when parked. Overall, I'm happy with it and will buy another when the inevitable end comes.

Performance ok, capacity way too small
Range on electric bike for this battery 4.5 miles only. For comparison: Original lead acid battery - replaced many years ago - was specified at 10 AH and the bike had a range of about 7.5 miles with it. Using that as a yardstick equivalent lead acid capacity will not be 14 AH, looks more like 8 AH.So I did order what specs show as a 36 AH equivalent, should have the capavcity I need.Performance looks very good compared to the battery set bought from Elite Power some weeks ago. I did use their batteries for 2 3/4 years and range and performance was reasonable, Because of ever lower going results after many recharge cycles I reordered with them a new battery set, biggest disappointment ever. First cell failed inside the first 8 mile trip, more cells in another battery failed 2 days later. Their customer service refused to send replacements, gave me an RMA # but I would be out of battery support for 3 weeks or more after spending close to $480.00.
