Makes a great temporary mattress!
Purchased this to use as a temporary mattress for my sofa as I have friend staying with me for an extended visit. I use 2 mattress covers on top of it and I also purchased wooden boards to go under the sofa cushions for stability. My sofa “bed” is more comfortable than my real bed with a queen sized mattress.I didn’t notice any odor and the average person who isn’t overly sensitive to packaging odors will not be bothered. I didn’t leave the cover off as it wasn’t necessary. It arrived in June so it was hot outside. The package was about to burst because the mattress was already swelling up in the Texas heat. I left it out overnight but honestly it puffed up to its max shortly after releasing it from the plastic package. It’s soft but firm. I don’t get the memory foam complaints as this stuff holds weight well. If you’re not average weight then this may not be for you, but that’s not the fault of the mattress or memory foam. Idk what kind of foam it is, if you’re excessively overweight it will sink in. I’m not using it in the ground so if that’s your purpose you may need to check reviews on stability on the ground with weight. I’d suggest buying 2 if you need extra stability to compensate for your weight. My friend is 195 and as a topper on my sofa it didn’t sink or sag. The sofa cushions are underneath. They’re relatively firm cushions otherwise if they’re been goi soft I would’ve removed them and placed the mattress directly on the sofa bed. I noticed some give until I bought the wooden board and put them under the cushions, but that’s the fault of my sofa springs and not the mattress. IMHO You can’t go wrong if you’re purchasing this for camping or as temporary bedding.I spent hours comparing these and settled on this one based on reviews, size and price and I’m glad I did.It comes with a really nice heavy duty cover for storage. The actual mattress cover can be removed and cleaned but I have 2 regular mattress covers and a fitted sheet over it so doubtful if washing will be needed. The mattress covers are for protection and added comfort but the mattress is comfortable without them.I like the nonskid surface on the bottom of the mattress as it keeps it in place and it doesn’t shift. It was the perfect length for my sofa. It’s so comfortable, I’m not sure now if my friend will want to leave. Lol.

Scoutmaster approved
Cozy for cold campouts. I covered it with a sheet so that I could just launder that when I got home. Took it to Boy Scout camp in late June. Decent week -- warm days + modest nights. It was warm enough that I couldn't get to sleep without a fan pointed at me (like always). I had worried that this would be hotter than my old air-mattress (which died last year). Honestly, it was about the same. Super happy with comfort, ease of transport, ease of setup, etc. No regrets. I have a bad back and weigh more than 250 lbs -- so I have another thin sleeping mattress between the cot and my body -- but I've never slept better at camp.

Works really well for car camping.
I bought this to replace an inflatable sleeping pad base layer, when I go car camping. It's soft, but not too soft. I'm about 180# and it held up really well on its first time out.It fits perfectly in my setup, and is just the right size to fit the width of the 60% side of the split 60/40 rear seat when folded. I could keep the other seat still upright. The only con is the size of this beast when you have to pack it up. It comes with a duffel bag to store it in, once it's rolled back up. It has straps and buckles to keep it rolled up. But, there is no way around it's size once packed. Don't be fooled by the packed size when you first get it. Once you let air in the vacuum pack, and you unroll and let it expand, it's giant. It's worth it, for me anyway. It takes up a lot of room, but definitely helps me to sleep more comfortable in the car. I can live with that trade-off. It's definitely not a great option if your space is limited, and definitely not a backpacking option unless you're built like a pro wrestler.

Great for Tent Camping
My husband and I along with our young son do a big camping trip every year. My husband and I are in our early 40s with very typical achy joints, he's an athletic build and I'm a bit extra fluffy. We purchased 3 of these mattresses and we've used them several times for backyard camp outs and recently took them for a week long trip to northern Wisconsin and Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Night time lows got down to 46 but mostly stayed in the low 50s.We have a 4/5 person tent which we put a heavy duty tarp under. We used 2 self inflating air mattresses and 1 accordion style foam pad under these mattresses. Let's be real, the air mattress & foam pad act as a moisture & temperature barrier, they're not for comfort. When we put the 3 mattresses together they're roughly the size of a king size mattress. It was a tight fit in our tent but it worked! Rather than rely on the velcro we put a king size fitted sheet over it all to hold it together which worked great. We then used our sleeping bags & pillows on top of the mattress. We spent a full week sleeping with this set up and we were very comfortable. We did move from one campground to another. Packing these up is easy and the bags they come with are more than big enough. We packed them in the back of a truck and experienced some light rain. The bags are definitely water resistant and although the mattresses didn't stay perfectly dry they stayed mostly dry and were completely usable that night. I'll admit, they started out pretty stiff but with use they get softer. We woke up each morning of our recent without too many aches and pains. We originally only had 2 of these but our son sleeps between us when we camp and it was awkward to have a ditch in the middle. Having 3 evens out the surface and we all sleep comfortably. There was one night where it was pretty warm at night. We all got too warm but these mattresses don't seem to hold the heat.Overall they're a great solution for those of us who can't handle cold hard ground as a sleep surface but aren't ready to give up our tents for motels or an RV. I believe they're going to last us for years to come.

Comfortable but large.
Bought this for a few long term camping trips this summer. Obviously the size of it means that you aren't going to be backpacking with it but if you are camping where you have easy access to a vehicle then it is a nice "little" luxury that you can take along with you (you may have to leave the kids at home but hey, double bonus). It is a good size that means you don't keep waking up during the night having slipped off it onto the cold ground as with many inflatable beds. There is also no sqeak or rustle as you move about.I used it recently in a field that had just been harvested for hay & there were quite a few wheel ruts from the tractor but the extra thickness of this mattress helped hugely in evening out the ground meaning I had a good night's sleep.I am in the middle of downsizing ready to move house & at the end of the day when the bed is still full of rubbish, it has been great to just unroll this on the lounge floor, & grab a blanket being sure of a good night's sleep without having to worry about clearing the bed.Definitely a worthwhile purchase.
