Great shoe - runs a bit small
Over the past 20 years I have run / walked on Asics GT 1000 and 2000. I have tried other Asics models plus Nike, Brooks, etc. but always come back to GT-2000. I try and change out the shoes after 600 miles and always have a second pair to rotate every other day. I had sore knees and ankles for years until a friend who was competitive runner told me to switch to GT Asics and my knees and ankles have been great ever since - now 65 years old putting in 5 plus miles every day, rain or shine with no pain. Nice and roomy in the toe box, laces stay tied, long lasting and excellent cushion. My only suggestion is to get them 1/2 to 1 size larger.

Nice shoe, plenty wide!
Once again I’m writing a review for those that want to know about sizing. I have been getting a 10.5 wide in just about all my shoes lately for most brands. I took a chance and ordered the regular width and it worked out nicely. There is plenty of width/room in the front to give freedom of movement, I can move my foot around and no binding. Very comfortable running shoe. I’ve done several 5k in them so far. Still too new to see how long they will last or breakdown from wear.

Know whether you want running OR trail to be more important
Having run Gel-Kayanos for 15 years, I needed a trail shoe this summer and this looked like it might fit the bill. The GT 2000 is fine as a running shoe but other than a little tougher sole, it is still mostly a running shoe. It weighs about the same as the Kayanos and is flexible and supportive and fits as expected but I was hoping for lugs which are a little bigger and a stiffer plate and more trail worthy. It has been and will be fine on muddy or woodsy or dirt trails but not as well on rocky trails, mountain trails and uneven trails. This is just fine or some people, but just not what I was hoping for.

Very Comfortable...Breathable...
I have really enjoyed these shoes and always have been a big Asics fan. My last Asics shoes lasted 5 years and the only reason I quit wearing them is because they finally had some rips in them. The color of the shoes is quite boring but non-the less quality shoes.

Perfect if you overpronate!
I have a pair of Asics stability street running shoes and they have kept my knees from hurting this year! I decided that I wanted some trail runners for hiking and trail running and these have also helped keep my knees pain free! I went to my local running store earlier this year and they determined I was over-pronating when I ran. Thinking that might be the cause of my knee pain, I decided to buy the recommended Asics and subsequently these! So far, so good. I'm no doctor, but after running for 20 years on active duty and having been diagnosed with PatellaFemoral Stress syndrome (runners knee), I figured that knee pain was a way of life. Now, I am much better.

Good shoe but durability could be better
Very comfortable and good support. I run around 10-20 miles a week and about 90% trail. I was having a tendonitis issue while using a brand that did not have as much support. My doc recommended I get a shoe with better support. Using these shoes with insoles, as well as some PT exercises and my tendonitis cleared up. The shoes fit and feel great. I would like a better grip considering this is the trail model but I wasn’t buying them for amazing grip. My biggest disappointment is the durability. At around 150 miles the soles have started to fall apart and one of the “lugs” has come off completely. I’m not currently using them and will have to try to shoegoo it back on.
