Blackspur BB-BH190 Rim Night Latch

We bought this lock for an internal office door albeit a bit sceptically because of previous reviews. As others have said, the metal for this lock is noticeably lighter than Yale locks, although the appearance, at least from the "lock" side, is very similar (the inside looks a bit cheaper).As to whether it works, as an office door it has got a lot of use over the past few weeks and has coped absolutely fine. I had to take it apart as the door opens outwards, rather than inwards, and the insides are simple but seem relatively sturdy.In the end, for less than having a couple of keys cut, it does a perfectly acceptable job, especially for internal doors. Whenever I've had to kick open a door the point that gives is always the screws holding the latch into place so I suspect this is no more or less secure than a Yale lock if you have someone trying to kick your door down - the lock is only going to be as strong as the door it's attached to. That said, I probably wouldn't want it as the only lock on an external door, but for a second lock it would be acceptable.In conclusion - not perfect, but pretty unbeatable for the price.

Finish on lock is scratched when arrived so if you need it to be perfect I wouldn't buy this brand.But the lock it's self works fine

The knob grinds with feeling of metal against metal, Its build from tinny lightweight metals and The threading for the barrel screws just pull through when tightened... Being a door lock one would like these screws to be tight.I imagine these only sell online because if you were to pick it up and feel the weight and action nobody would buy one, I wouldn't even deem this suitable for a rickety garden shed. I know from experience That you can get a lot better quality versions even at this price pointDon't waist your time . I promise you Will return this.

I wanted something cheap to practice lockpicking on and this seemed like a good practice piece. Looking at it, the metal doesn't feel like a Yale, (its not heavy solid brass/steel), it is a light metal,but what do you expect for the price. Not sure whether it should be used as an outdoor front door lock (perhaps a temporary one - don't know would probably do the job not sure), but it would make a great internal lock or a shed lock. Installing was simple I just had to drill one hole that was 29mm then screw bits on.

It’s quite a good lock. I used it internally. Easy to install Did it myself. Arrived in good time well packaged and is good quality for the price Not heavy Metal but it’ll do the job I need it for and has 3 keys supplied.

This is very cheaply made, the metal looks very flimsy and brittle - reminds me a bit of an easter egg. To be honest I opened it, inspected it, and never dared fit it. I'm confident a half hearted kick to the door would have this off no bother. I then thought I'd use it on an internal door but there were sleeker solutions out there.
