a disappointment
As a person with over 40 years of casting & teaching experience, I expected this book to provide clear and useful information about casting for use by students. Instead I found incomplete information, confusing layout and captions concerning process, and very minimal info about waxes and modeling them. There were also some glaring safety warning omissions. The broad range of approaches to casting are useful. The info about the other metals techniques may be handled much better (I am unfamiliar with some of them) but the handling of the casting information makes me doubt the accuracy there also. But for anyone who has some experience the information on all processes can be a good starting point.

Technical but good.
This book is technical and has good ideas. Was looking for a specific process and found it here. However, have since found a more straight forward way to produce the same result.

Another Codina Hit!
Any book by Codina is bound to be a winner. I have not found anyone who combines the simplicity of design with the accuracy of procedure and detailed photograph as Charles Codins. A welcomed piece to my library just to read and review.

Well-written, beautiful pictures!
Very nice book. Nicely illustrated, and some techniques for casting that I've never seen or heard of! The steps are clear, and the artist knows what he's talking about. I can't wait to incorporate some of these techniques into my jewelry!

Advanced...
The book presented by Carles Codina (I loved his 'The Complete Book of Jewelry Making: A Full-Color Introduction to the Jeweler's Art') is the perfect book to answer the questions "How they do that?"It introduces techniques, equipment and processes which I am sure must be covered more in-dept via courses if one is to really get into them, but with enough details and good photography to have a clear image of how it is done. The photos almost speak for themselves but the text underneath further explains clearly what we see. This is a "to the point" book which gets to the matter directly which I appreciate enormously.I admit it is too advanced for me but, so much to learn still! wonderful book!Mireille Dalpé-PrazeresEarth, Stone and Wire, Ottawa, Canada
