Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherf****** game. Directed by Tim Story (Ride Along, Think Like A Man, Barbershop) and co-written by Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, Harlem) and Dewayne Perkins (“The Amber Ruffin Show,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”), The Blackening skewers genre tropes and poses the sardonic question: if the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who dies first?

Surprisingly, great...
I'd heard this was worth a watch, but I'm still surprised by how funny it was! It's worth noting, It's far less like horror-comedy- Jumangi than the trailer suggests. Whilst it's tonally less cartoonish, as a satire of a genre, it's closest comparison would probably be horror's "Black Dynamite". The dialogue is fast, witty, with some great performances, and an interesting cast of characters. I rented this for 1.99, and then bought it as the credits rolled!

Very enjoyable
Fun watch, very likeable cast. More of a comedy, def. not a horror. Just managed to stay away from "Scary Movie" territory until the final reveal which became a little stupid but hired at £1.99 so, can't complain really.

Quite funny
Well quite funny I did enjoy some bits were bit unrealistic like (spoiler alert) there was all star cast of tough black girls especially the curvy one and some strong guy with rippling muscle are you tough gay guy. Are you telling me faced with one serial killer they all run for their lives I do t think so they would kick ass ! Which they do in the end and you shout that’s what I am talking about it had few creepy moments especially the voice on the board game and a twist you did not see coming. It’s not really spooky horror more of a comedy and there are some laught out moments especially when they made some digs about white people I amWhite myself and I thought it was funny definitely worth watching but it not a horror film so it more laughs than scares

It had the potential to be amazing!!
This movie is hella cringe, too many plot holes and it can't even be swept aside in the likes of a comedy as it isn't funny enough.

Funny but wait for it to be on prime. Don't pay for it! LolIt's funny and I'm glad I finally got to see it. You could tell it was mostly improv but a good laugh.

The Blackening: A Riveting Tale of Redemption and Resilience
The Blackening is a powerful and thought-provoking film that takes viewers on a journey of redemption and resilience. The movie is directed by a talented team and features an exceptional cast. This movie tackles difficult themes with sensitivity, grace, and humor. For those who appreciate thought-provoking cinema that explores the human condition, this film is one to watch. The Blackening delves into the characters' psyches and explores the complexities of human nature and the consequences of one's choices.Cinematography: visually stunning. Each scene is crafted to evoke a sense of darkness and despair. The dark and gritty aesthetic kept me engaged and invested in the story. The cast and supporting cast deliver standout performances by adding depth and nuances to the narrative. The soundtrack complements the intense and emotional moments and immerses the viewer in the characters' journey.Audience: This film is not suited for all audiences due to its dark and mature themes.

Great Comedy!
Loved this cute movie. There was just enough action and mystery. However, what made this movie was the comedic conversations. Thank you

The comedy central version was way better
It's a parody, so I expected some comedy, but no. They went for a serious tone, and thus not as great as it could have been. It's for this reason that I can say that the comedy central version is way better. This movie missed a couple of opportunities, but I suppose it was going for the horror movie stereotypes, so that could have been the reason for some of the inaccuracies. Also, I kept waiting for someone to say the name Steve Urcle (from family mattes), never happened. Lastly, I was thinking they could have used one of those bugs bunny daffy duck hunting season jokes. You'll understand if watch it.
