Perfectly fine drive - but it no longer looks like the image?
I've always used ironwolf drives in my NAS, but when I ordered the 16TB ones, the drive no longer has the gree/black/red styling (which was the same on the previous 4 and 8TB versions. The title and description is the same, but maybe Seagate have changed the labels? I'm not worried because I also wonder if the ones supplied are the next version, as Synology didn't identify it in their database - but they work perfectly normally after I clicked through the warning, and it's been working fine for a while - just something the ads and the pictures don't mention?

Not as described
I saw some comments in the reviews about these being recertified units, but at the time of purchase (changed since) these were listed as brand new with three years data recovery. I received a recertified drive with no Seagate warranty and less than four months left on that data recovery service. Didn't even bother taking it out of the antistatic bag before filing a return. That leaves a very nasty taste in the mouth.

Not new disks but close to it
Bought these as replacements for my media server main storage and I'm really happy with them. Not new - but close to it ==================== When I bought these it was from Amazon themselves (not third party) and the listing said they were new. They weren't, they were Recertified by Seagate (label on the disk states this). Recertified is kind of like refurbished except that the disks are chcked and refurbished by Seagate themselves as opposed to a third party (you can verify this with the serial numbers on Seagate's website). That means, from my view, they are as good as new. Often these recertified disks are unused returns but they can't sell them as new. So yes, naughty of Amazon to say they were new but I figured they weren't given the price I bought them at (around 75% of a new disk). BUT recertified disks do not come with three year warranty so if that's important to you,, check. In the end you're really unlikely to see these drives being sold brand new for the price I got them for (under £200 each). I think this product has been EoL'd now anyway so you are unlikely to see brand new ones available anywhere. Review ====== With all that in mind, here's my review of what I got: * value for money = 5 stars. They were well packed verified as recertified by Seagate and very good for the price * Packaging = 5 stars. They were in sealed anti-static bags and securely held in the packaging - which was recyclable and not excessive. * Performance = 4 stars. They are more than big enough for my needs and pretty quick at delivering data. Not the quickest but enough for me. * Noise = 3 stars. They are noisier than the disks I replaced then with (WD Blue 6TB) so I can hear them more in my lounge when the disk is being accessed. It's not enough to hear over any media playing on my TV or speakers (even if that is just through the standard TV speakers) and it is infrequent enough to be a problem. The noise tends to be a low click when the drive arm is moving, no spin noise at all. * Overall = 4 stars. The noise was a surprise but not a big issue. Performance is as expected really but not brilliant. Selling them as new when they are not is wrong if you ask me but the disks I got have been running for over a week and are really good.

Drive failed
I was not aware the drive was refurbished (nothing saying this when I purchased) when I went to register the drive it had 5 months of the 5 year warranty left. drive failed in a few weeks so i had to replace and rebuild the RAID. No problems with returning to Amazon

Defective Unit received and No Warranty Support
I ordered 5 Seagate hard drives on June 20, but one arrived defective. Unfortunately, neither sellers or manufacturer provided any support for a return or replacement. Now I'm stuck with an expensive defective hard drive.

No warranty, no support, no nothing
I've bought 2 of these drives. 1 of them just got defective after only a year after purchase. I've been in touch with Seagate Support which has no warranty for this drive. They tells me: Dear Mr, I hope this message finds you well. In regards of the drive's serial number -------- and part number -------881. I would like to inform you that the part number of your drive ending in 881 cannot be supported by Seagate, as it is not manufactured for end users. This hard drive is only meant for companies, it is not meant for end users at all and any replacement request and not supported by Seagate, so i recommend contacting the place of purchase with this information as they are the ones responsible for the 881 hard drives. If you have any further questions or need assistance with anything else, please feel free to reach out. Best regards,
