Lost Paradise - Arvo Part & Robert Wilson

Part's music is sublime; Wilson's staging is ridiculous
I have never seen such a poor fusion of two arts as this DVD records. The music of Part is emotionally powerful, quintessentially Slavic, religiously resonant, full of evident meaning. The choreography of Wilson is cold and sterile, quintessentially postmodern, self-consciously secular; it's like Derrida.Just get the CD of the Part work and listen to it carefully; forget about this DVD.

Anything by Part deserves high ratings. The reason for four stars is the presence of Wilson and his choreography. May be okay (I was not a fan) but juxtaposed to Arvo's sublime music, it just seemed silly.

A great bit of Arvo Part !!!
Arvo Part rarely ventures out in public. And this is a great DVD - "In The Lost Paradise" - we can really follow him over a period of one year in his native Estonia, to Japan and the Vatican.
