Best Straightener I've Ever Had...BUT...
Pros:AffordableReally works on my difficult to straighten hairProfessional qualityHigh heatCons:No automatic shut-off featureDoesn't seem to last as long as other productsI have had two of these straighteners over the past few years and I am about to purchase my third. That is my only complaint, they don't seem to last very long! Now, I will admit that I occasionally forget to turn my straighteners off when I am done using them which is not only really dangerous, but I think it is affecting the life of my flat iron. I really wish that the Solia had an automatic shut off feature like other flat irons do (where they turn off after an hour or so if not in use).Other than that though, this flat iron works better than any other I've ever tried - way better than my GHD in fact!It is difficult to find good flat irons with the larger plates these days. I have very unruly, curly hair just past my shoulders. Although I am Caucasian and my hair is relatively thin I have a really hard time getting it smooth and most flat irons simply will NOT get the job done no matter how many times I pass them over the same section of hair. This one really works and it works quickly. I really like that it leaves my hair super straight and soft.I will add that you should be careful when using this flat iron, it gets REALLY hot and it will FRY your hair if you don't pay attention to what you're doing. I didn't put this in the con's section because it shouldn't happen with a little bit of common sense, just don't turn the heat all the way up the first time you use it: Try a lower setting first and work your way up until you get to a point that works for you without scorching.

Great Flat Irons.
Great set of flat irons. I've been using them for 3+ years now and finally feel qualified enough to write a good review. They get very hot, the temperature is adjustable, and the cord has a swivel on the handle so you don't have to deal with the cord getting all twisty while you do your hair. I love this flat iron and the curved ceramic edges help keep you from getting that clamped look on your hair. I'd totally buy these again, but they're still awesome, so I haven't had to replace them!

straightens well but snags
It's true what the other reviews say, it does snag your hair slightly and it's not well encased. They handles heat up at the top and i'm fairly certain that after one month it doesn't get as hot as it used to. My advice is just spend the extra $50 on some GHD wide plate straighteners. They will last longer, look better and are much lighter. You'll end up replacing these within a couple of months.

Just bought my second one
I had this flat iron for at LEAST 5 years and it's been great. I'm clumsy and have certainly dropped it on tile more than a few times. One of the plates recently broke loose - I can still use it if I'm careful, but it can snag. I have more than gotten my money's worth so I am buying a replacement. PS: I have really, really thick, wavy hair and the Solia does a great job straightening it.

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely buy this if it is in your price range, even if it is at the top of it. It makes my hair so silky smooth and easy to manage and I have fine hairs that tangle and they are curly and there are A LOT OF THEM. When I do it wet-straight it takes longer and gets puffy but some mousse fixes that. Get Tresemme heat protector (it smells really good) and straighten. It's great. It arrived promptly and the plates smooth my hair really well, and even if I put it through in a clump, it spreads it out somehow and makes the heat even. The plates adjust a little (they have a pad underneath I guess) but it works really well! my hair is about 4 inches below shoulder length at the moment. It heats up so fast that I can touch it up in the morning, and I have very little time in the morning for my hair. It's great, definitely buy it.

GREAT STRAIGHTENER!
I bought this straightener for my daughter for Christmas. The last one she had lasted for six years and is losing its stream (no pun intended). I wasn't home the morning she first used this one, but when I asked her how it worked, her response was, " Awesome!". My daughter has naturally wavy/curly, thick hair that has its own thing going on. For her to use the word "Awesome," is truly awesome! :)

Hair gets caught
This iron heats up nicely, flashes when left plugged in as a warning but also there is a spot that sometimes catches my hair and pulls it out. Doesn't happen all the time because I watch out for it now but better to put smaller amounts of hair in it and avoid the snags.
