These are well made diffusers that diffuse light significantly. I tested one of these by holding it against a non-recessed downlight, so there was minimal distance between the LED lamp and the diffuser. It spread the beam such that the illumination level of a nearby wall increased and the level of light immediately below the bulb significantly reduced.A downside to these is that at around 69mm diameter, it's likely that they won't fit a downlight designed for a GU10 / MR16 bulb at approx 50mm diameter. This is because a fixture will typically have clips to retain the bulb that would prevent fitting the diffuser. If these came with a ring of double sided tape they could be stuck to the outside of many non-tilting downlights, however they don't. So while there may be some fittings where these can be used, I believe they won't be usable in most cases. They could prove useful for a custom light fitting or light sculpture, which is how I'm likely to use these.

Very affordable way to soften the light on your downlighters or spotlights.You can add the little round discs to your LED downlights or spotlights if the light output is a bit too harsh or the pattern produced by the reflectors is not very pleasing to look at. Pop one of these discs in the light unit to soften and spread the light coming out. There's 20 per pack so turns out to be a low cost solution.
