Babelio Extra Wide No Bottom Bar Baby/Dog Gate, 28" H, 29.7-46.5" W, White

This Babelio gate is a really nice solution for keeping pets or little ones contained without putting a traditional bottom bar across the doorway. The no-bottom-bar design makes walking through much easier, especially in a busy hallway or doorway where a threshold could become a trip hazard. It adjusts from 29.7 to 46.5 inches wide, so it can accommodate a pretty wide range of openings. The auto-close feature is one of my favorite things about this style of gate. You can walk through without having to remember to close it every time, while the stay-open function is convenient when you're moving back and forth frequently. The hardware-mounted installation and steel construction also give it a much more secure feel than a lightweight pressure-mounted gate. The combination of the wide opening, no bottom bar, automatic closing, and sturdy construction makes this a really practical gate. It looks clean, works well for both pets and children, and the wide adjustment range makes it much more versatile than a standard gate.

I ordered 2 of these gate with our first child for the top and bottom of the stairs. If installed correctly they work great! You don’t have to worry about a bottom bar to accidentally trip on going down and easy going up the stairs. Later we ordered a 3rd. During a move / remodel we misplaced the hardware to setup the gate. I reached out to Babelio and explained the situation and they were extremely responsive and helpful in finding a solution. Definitely would recommend!

This is a great solution if you have stairs and don’t want your dog going up or down those stairs. Ours are super steep and the dog is very small. We installed it at the top of the stairs. I feel much safer about that. We did have to use a piece of wood to secure it against the drywall just for better hold. It swings both ways, which is traffic. So far so good we’ve had it up for three months no problems. The latch works great. We got White happy about that. It matches our walls. If I had kids, I would be happy with it as well. The slots are not too far apart and it seems strong enough. We needed something that was the right distance and could make it work as well as higher since we were installing it at the top of the stairs. We didn’t want it short where someone wouldn’t see it and fall over the top of it and tumble down the steps.

I have two of these, they are very study and easy to use for adults while still being challenging to open for kids. On top of that, when we experienced an issue with one of the gates 2 years later, and contacted the company for assistance, their support team was excellent. They responded promptly and got us a solution! Would definitely recommend.

We're using these gates for pets, not children, so I didn't bother to install the bottom of the two latch receivers/brackets. This makes installation easier and faster, and when you use the gate, you don't have to life it - you can just pull back on the latch and it swings open. If you have children you'll want both brackets for safety. This is a nice product at a good price. I like that its width is adjustable without installing "expansion" sections - you just slide it to width and four set-screws make that permanent. (Plastic connectors between expansion sections broke on our old gate, which is why we bought these.) I also like that it has a self-close feature, but if you open it all the way, it has a recess in the hinge that holds it open. That's nice. The only thing I don't like so far is the latch is RIGHT against the edge of the gate, where it latches to the wall. If you have big fingers it can be a little awkward activating it - other gates have a button or latch an inch or so from the edge, which is easier to operate. A minor detail but worth noting.

Easy installation and a perfect fit. Keeps that puppy in his place for now. 🐶

I do not write reviews until I have used the product and can give my honest opinion. At first, this gate was great. The " auto-close" feature is not as it states but it is stays put and keeps our toddler from getting where she doesn't need to go. My husband was able to install it into the door frame without issue. Seemed very sturdy and well made. We bought this gate on May 20, 2025, and right around the 2-month mark of having it installed, one of the bars on the gate, at the bottom, came un-welded and broke. It absolutely threw off the entire stability of the gate, the locking mechanism, my toddler's safety is now a concern. This is NOT a cheap gate, and we are past the return window, so we had to make it work. My husband was able to duct tape it/glue it back together until we can find a better replacement. I would NOT recommend this gate for parents with small children as I feel it is a liability to their safety and security. Very disappointed in the quality. I will try to add a picture if/when I can later. But again, as a mother to a small child, this scared me and with how expensive this gate is, we are very disappointed in what has happened in such a short time of using it. ***We do not have pets; we are not rough with this gate. We literally use it for our living room area, so it has not sustained any above expected usage****

Amazingly sturdy, nice smooth welds, well finished and clever "no latch" hold-open when you want to carry stuff down the stairs. I chose to use BOTH their cool sticker for the hinge side AND verify the hole designations with the 4 ft level for absolute vertical. You stick it on the wall and drill pilot holes right through it. Use a 1/8 bit, EVEN if you end up enlarging the holes for wall anchors for best accuracy. Once the hinge side is up, you SLIDE the two sections wider to meet the latch side and position the latch pieces with the double sided tape. Open it wide, drill pilot holes and put in the screws and fiddle with the Allen screws in the two sections to get it to close perfectly, which mine did. Hint, do the top latch first, an lightly draw around it with a pencil, in case the double sided tape doesn't hold while you are drilling. It looks nice, work VERY smoothly, the installation "sticky templates" make it goof proof. I'd buy it again.
