Why does it not work when I test socket? But LED light normally, and test hot wire normally? Answer: Please make sure your voltage detector tip must be inserted into the hot slot. When some wall socket has child safe lock, the tip can't detect it, you have to take apart the cover to test. Sometimes our batteries didn't put well, it will make the device seems not work, please take out the battery, inspect the battery connection and then try again. Having used a Fluke volt stick for some years professionally ...
Having used a Fluke volt stick for some years professionally which has just given up I tried out this fluke-ish look alike. The plastic used is harder. The unit itself picks up an electrical field easier than the fluke so you may have problems sorting out wires close together. With an led lamp, no off switch, no self test and more sensitive I wonder just how well this will stand up against the new Fluke volt stick I just purchased.

Non contact voltage tester
I have been using this tester for a couple of months now and have found it to be reliable and not over sensitive.As good as some of the more expensive testers on the market.No fancy packaging and supply your own batteries but at the price it was worth a try.Would recommend.
