Good if not Great Lantern - LOUSY Packaging - Took THREE Shipments to Get it Right!
I have mixed feelings here and have a hard time writing a review. It took THREE times to get one to me that was unbroken. I am not sure whom to blame - Amazon or Century, but neither took too long to properly package the mantle. On shipment one, the glass globe was broken. Easy return and replacement - which was also broken...grrrr.... The THIRD one finally arrive ok and we have used it on three camping trips. The mantle has held up through two tanks of gas now (I use the cheap $2 tool propane tanks). VERY bright on high - love that. The chain is fantastic. It is substantial and will adequately (safely) hold the lantern and tank. I have used the lantern hanging from a post, hanging from a terr branch, and setting on a table - all were flawless. My kids have only seen battery lanterns - they were simply mesmerized by the sound, smell and sight of a gas lantern!

I love it!
Pros: I love it!!! Small, light weight & stores perfect in my camper storage under the seats or cabinets in its original box. Just cut small thin sponge squares. Tape together & insert into box for protection. Have'nt fired it up yet thought. Cons: Impossible to tie mantle on that came with Lantern. Strings are to short. I used a Coleman mantle since I have a dual Coleman lantern for 30+ yrs. Although the Coleman mantle is too long for this lantern, just tie it as low as u can & it should work fine. If you tie the Coleman mantle in the bottom V-cut notch, the mantle will touch the top cover/cap of the lantern & probable not burn right. That would be dangerous. So, just tie it as low as you can & it should work fine. Or, cut the Coleman mantle with a pair of scissors to the Century mantle size & re-string using the Coleman string with a big eyed sewing needle. Problem solved!!! Deer Man out

Good for inside a tent
This product is good for it's intended purpose. It's perfect for the top of my propane distribution tree, or on a 1 lb propane bottle. It will not light up a campsite, you need a two mantle lamp for that. It lights up the inside of a 6 man tent pretty well when placed properly. Be careful, as it does emit heat.

Hurricane Sandy! 14/15 Days without electricity
Had it sitting on my desk new in the Box when Sandy hit (Home Run) it was to go in the garage with my other Camping gear that was wiped out. Its small, compact, easy storage overall Great Lantern. Had to change the mantle after the first burn, leaving it on high the first night.. There after i kept it on low, I would leave it on all night. I was getting two nights on a 14 oz bottle and 3 on 16 oz. A half Dozen of these Lanterns are on my replacement list.

good value
I have used older model mighty lites in the past and they performed great. This model is less susceptible to breakage of the globe but is a little heavier and more bulky as a pack-in lite. These lights put off a tremendouse amount of illumination for their size.

it puts out good light, but not like the two-mantle
i got this because it has a more protected glass shield - my boy scouts are constantly cracking/breaking coleman cylinder style ones. this only has one mantle to worry about. it puts out good light, but not like the two-mantle ones

These are a pain in the butt to affix the mantles to. They burn bright and are fuel efficient, but wish the mantle situation was improved.
