CRAFTSMAN Store: CRAFTSMAN 262-Piece Metric and SAE Mechanic’s Tool Set in 3-Drawer VERSASTACK Box This product, the CRAFTSMAN CMMT45309 Tool Set, is a CRAFTSMAN brand tool set that includes both SAE (Imperial) and Metric tools. This tool set is provided in a special, bespoke three drawer tool cabinet that conforms with the VERSASTACK System Standard. Consequently, this tool cabinet will directly interface with other CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK components to provide an integrated storage solution. With the VERSASTACK System, the user’s tools can be securely stored, protected from weather and physical damage, and it all can be easily transported to any location required. The CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK Tool Cabinet This product is provided with a custom-made bespoke case or tool cabinet designed to hold and store this tool set. The case is molded from high-quality polypropylene polymer in the trademark CRAFTSMAN Red and Black colors. The case is part of the VERSASTACK suite of products and interfaces 100% with all other VERSASTACK products. As such, it may be stacked and connected with the other CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK components. This CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK case is composed of three individual drawers, each custom designed for the organization and storage of one individual size of this tool set’s components, that being the ¼”, ⅜”, and ½” tool subsets. The drawers may be locked into place within the cabinet with the rotary locking mechanism. This locking mechanism will ensure there will be no accidental opening of a drawer full of tools at the most ill-timed moment possible. The drawers may be unlocked and each drawer may be completely removed from the case, if and when desired. Each of the drawers has dedicated locations specifically designed to hold and retain the tool components included for that drive-size. The dedicated locations do not allow for additional tools to be added to the contents of the drawer despite the fact that there is open space left in each drawer. This is most unfortunate. I have additional new CRAFTSMAN tools that I would like to add to each drawer, for each drive size, but there are no open spaces to accommodate such additions. I suggest that the engineers who design and create the drawers for these sets for CRAFTSMAN/Stanley Black & Decker seriously consider redesigning the drawers for future iterations of this set with additional unfilled and open sections for the addition of CRAFTSMAN sockets, adapters, universal joints, extensions, wrenches, and screwdrivers. I suggest that they do not waste valuable drawer space with open and unfilled space. The case has a robust handle placed in the center of the top of the case for lifting and carrying the case. The robust handle has an over-molded elastomer covering to enhance the user’s grip on the handle and to make it easier and more secure to carry the case. The case is designed to accept the attachment of other CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK cases above and below this case. The case has the appropriate feet, indents, and latches to accept and lock together with all other CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK cases. Lastly, the construction of this CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK case is robust enough to properly hold the heavy steel tools it was designed to contain. SPECIAL NOTE: The CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK series of cases is totally compatible with the DeWALT TSTAK series of cases and they may be arranged in any order within a tool case stack. They will interlock and work together despite their distinct color schemes clashing horribly. That said, I own both the DeWALT TSTAK and the CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK products in a variety of configurations. I just do not stack them together or place them side-by-side. I am afraid of an uncontrolled chain reaction event should I ever do so. The Craftsman Tool Set This product, the CRAFTSMAN CMMT45309 Tool Set, contains tools utilizing the SAE-standard ¼”, ⅜”, and ½”-drive products. Each of these standard drive sets is placed into its own dedicated tool drawer. Each of the three standard sets is supplied with a low-profile, 72-tooth ratchet. The 72-tooth ratchet standard means that the ratchet need only be rotated 5° around the center of rotation to engage the next ratchet tooth with the ratchet’s pawl allowing for motion to be accomplished in even the tightest of work conditions. The low-profile configuration of each ratchet provides a drive tool that is substantially thinner than the standard profile ratchet this allowing the tool to be used in very confined areas. Each ratchet has a change lever that is moved in one direction or the other to accomplish a change in rotational direction. These tools also have a quick-release button to aid in attaching or removing the drive device attachment (socket or extension) being used with the wrench. The set’s sockets, extensions, adapters, ratchet wrench handles, and combination wrenches are forges from Chromium-Vanadium alloy steel. Certain ratchet components, the ratchet’s anvil and pawl, are forged from Chromium-Molybdenum alloy steel for additional strength. The tool set’s Allen wrenches and the specialty bits included in the set are forged from an alloy steel but the exact composition is indeterminate. All of the tools included in this set, except for the Allen wrenches and the specialty bits, have a fully polished chrome-plated finish. The tool set’s Allen wrenches and the specialty bits have a black oxide finish. The CRAFTSMAN ¼” Nut Driver Handle (CMHT65078 CM) or “Spinner Handle” included in the set utilizes a Chromium-Vanadium steel shaft component and a polymer handle (possibly butyrate) with an elastomer rubber over-molding for a greater grip. Summary I like this tool set very much. I particularly like the very visible size markings placed on the set’s sockets. I also like that I can add this tool set to my CRAFTSMAN VERSASTACK set of tool boxes which I have been putting together for specific work tasks. As previously stated, I wish that there were open spaces for additional tools to be added to the drive-size specific drawers. I would very much like to add a new CRAFTSMAN six-point socket set to each drive-size drawer, but no socket storage spaces are available. Maybe I can 3-D print my own drawer design once I can get a 3-D printer and get it operational? In any event, I like this tool set very much.

100% a great buy, has all of the basic tools you need of different sizes and lengths. Definitely a great beginner purchase to get a jump on building your tool arsenal.

Damn, craftsman is back! The finish and quality is much higher than the last kit I bought back in the late it's. The ratchets are fairly low rolling resistance, and the quality was much higher than anticipated. A proper 250+ piece kit should have wrenchs up to 19mm, where this one stopped at 14mm (which i honestly couldn't believe, big let down) there is enough void space in the box to add a few tho, and the box is pretty slick.

Pretty decent good sized only issue with it is some of the bits are in the back and the whole drawer has to come out to access them. Besides that it’s great

I imagine if your in the versastack world this is even more nice since this would integrate. I am not, but this is a nice box with a wide variety for when your just getting started. I never pictured myself getting into any auto repair or anything, but with Youtube available for walkthroughs and costs getting crazy this is a nice start. I have run into so many times that I don't have the right tool and it makes things so painful. This set makes for that being a much less often occurrence.

Bought this as a birthday gift and it was a big success. Easy to open and close. A spot for every tool so you dont have to dig around to find what you are looking for. Highly recommend.

Love this toolbox its light weight and i almost have everything i need if they just switched out one of the elen keys with a starred one then i would buy even more for my job im a mechanic btw

High quality tools and has everything I need in a organized tool chest. Love the lifetime warranty on it just in case. Everyone should have a set of tools like this. Even if the Chinese make it it's still made of top quality. And warranty is still honored.
