Rough, Cracked and Sticky
As I suspect is true for a lot of folks, the pandemic has resulted in a -lot- more home cooking, and two months in (yeah, I'm a little slow on the uptake), I realized I could use a cutting board. I purchased one of the OXO plastic boards and its perfectly fine, but I was worried about the effect on my knives. Did some research and found recommendations for teak boards. Looked around and some are hugely expensive, but this Lipper model was in my price range for a small board and had good reviews. It arrived the other day and the first thing I noticed was the board was not rectangular, meaning the top left edge (see photo) is bulging out. Not even sure how this is possible, but that lack of quality control was a first sign. Then I turned the board over and saw the awful sticker everyone talks about. Because the bottom of the board has the Lipper logo burned in (why???) it makes the bottom useless for actual use, and I was just going to leave the sticker alone, but no such luck. It was already gooey, slidey, and peeling off, so I removed it and Voila! a huge gloppy gluey mess. I tried mineral oil and alcohol and industrial solvents and even a medical grade adhesive remover and mostly what they did was push the glue around. I got the bottom 'less sticky' but never really clean, and for a board that sits directly on the table (no feet, no grooves) this means the bottom will transfer its yuck to whatever it touches.) Then I washed the board and it felt really rough... I know others have sanded theirs down (didn't know this was a DIY kit!), and thought that might be necessary. Cut up some vegetables and surprisingly felt less sure on this surface than the OXO. Finished up and washed it up and dried it and put it on the counter to figure out what I would do next, only to come back the next day and see that the board is already splitting open.Product returned. Very disappointing. YMMV, but I would steer clear of the small Lipper Teak cutting board.

Not the cutting board pictured with the grooves
I bought this from Amazon for $15. The 12 X 8 size. I did not want the grooves as pictured. I was pleasantly surprised when the cutting board arrived. It was the exact same cutting board I already had! It has a top butcher block and grooves underneath on the side for handles. I do not use both sides of my cutting board. I like always knowing which side is the top (cutting) and I do not like the grooves. It arrived very dry. Use some Goo Gone or rubbing alcohol to remove the residue of the sticker. I use 'Butcher Block' cleaner and conditioner. After cleaning and conditioning, the dark wood and grain shown through beautifully. I am a happy customer!UPDATE - turns out that the 12 X 8 does not have a juice grove. The picture with the groove is the larger version. Hopes this helps.

Functional, beautiful, and affordable!
I originally purchased the 12 × 8 board as it was the most affordable and probably the size I would use the most often. I was so impressed with the quality, I went ahead and purchased the larger one as well. When you remove the sticker before use, I highly recommend using Goo Gone on the sticker residue, then follow that up with some soap and water all over the board. It will get your board squeaky clean so it will be ready for oiling. Let your board dry overnight then add 1-2 coats mineral oil, followed by 1-2 coats beeswax wood cream (which is a combo of 1 part beeswax and 4 parts mineral oil). This will seal up your board and make it more repellant to liquids and odors, as well as increasing longevity. As you can see in the photos, the two boards have differing finger grips. It appears that they intended the larger board to be more of a reversible style board, so you have the option of using either the juice groove side or the smooth side. The smaller one has more of an offset finger grip, where it looks like it was designed for single side use. I actually prefer the offset finger grip, but I see the necessity for the design to be the way it is on the larger board, so it's not a deal breaker by any stretch. All in all, these are some really terrific boards at such an affordable price, so I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a functional and beautiful board, that doesn't gouge the pocketbook. Thank you for your time!

Sticker glue will NOT wash off
A sticker is *directly* applied to the cutting board, and the glue will not wash or scrub away. The glue is oily and has a bad chemical smell to it, I think it is some kind of rubber cement. Boiling water and my an abrasive sponge (which I had to throw away) for 30 minutes only spread it out. I'm not going to use this cutting board for food, imagine this crap rubbing off on your meat and vegetables and then *adding heat to it*.

Good board turned great with a little DIY
The only two downsides (so far) to this board are yes, as everyone else has mentioned, the label, as well as little skimping on the finish.I used vegetable oil dabbed on the adhesive, allowed to sit for a few minutes, and scrubbed with soap and a sponge. Mineral oil would probably work too, which should go on the board eventually anyway. Second, because the board was just a tad rough around the edges, particularly in the juice groove and the handles, I did a couple light passes by hand all over the board with a sheet of 1000-grit (probably overkill, but it's what I had). This worked doubly to remove any remnants of the label adhesive. Lastly, a quick wipe-down with mineral oil + wax conditioner, et voila. Is it a perfect board? Of course not. But I'm of the opinion that a rating should consider both quality AND value. About 20 minutes of very minimal elbow grease turned this board into a kitchen centerpiece rivaling boards 2x or 3x the cost. Let's hope the low price doesn't manifest itself later on in the durability of construction. But even if so, plenty of other boards at much higher price points have enough reports of cracks or warping to make this board a smart choice. (But seriously, Lipper. Labels are such a cheap part of the production chain. Find a better label stock.)

Good ...but
It is a good quality board, it looks strudy ...but, there was a label on the back with very annoying glue, which is hard to be taken off (I tried a few things beffore it came off, first tried to scrape it off with a sharp blade, then attempted to dissolve the glue with alcohol and towel - no chance, finaly I used a fine grit sandpapper (3 sheets) and managed to get rid of it . The other bad point is the engraved logo of the company which is not on the official selling photo. I think this is done on purpose. If these 2 points are not a problem - then this is a great purchase and a good value for money.

Thick, straight, and sustainable. What's not to like?
I love teak, the look, the smell, and the feel. The Lipper fulfills my teak fetish but only gets four stars because the version I have (smaller one) doesn't have a reversible side with a surrounding edge moat. Both sides are fully functional, but there is a missed opportunity here to make a truly versatile product like its big brother. The teak on mine arrived a little dry for my liking so I gave it a quick oiling. The board is officially stamped with a Forest Steward Council ship logo ensuring it was harvested from renewable growth teak.

Highly Recommended
I bought 2 and both are great. The size is not too big nor too small good for everyday use. It's sturdy and thick enough that should last very long time. The price is reasonable (A high quality cutting board that not cost you arms and legs). Photo above is already treated with oil and wax. Sorry, forgot to take picture for to non treated. In case if you afraid of the sticker goo complaints in many previous comments. Today, July 18, 2021. The stickers are now easy to remove and the goo is easy to wash off.

Magnificent
These boards look really nice, and the teak is great for cutting boards.I ordered two and one came with some very slight damage. Look somebody hit it with a finishing hammer and also another spot with a punch. Too deep for me to sand out, but worked out something with amazon since it is on the bottom side, and after oiling is hard to spot. Obviously came from manufacturer like that, no way that was done with shipping. Good news is that you can return it and get another one if the damage is too bad. The second one was perfect, which was good since one is for a gift, I'll keep the damaged one for myself. In the pictures you can see how it looks before and after my first coat of pure tung oil. I sanded it before and it feels pretty great. They come pretty smooth as is, but the grooves were a little rough. Really like the look, especially after oiling. The teak is nice to help prevent cracking. And they use rectangular pieces, which also should help, even though in the sellers picture they show square pieces. Seems solid and a great board for the price.Only negative is the sticker. I really wish they didn't use a sticker that left glue on the board. But was able to get it fairly clean with some isopropyl alcohol, and then the sanding did the rest.

Beware of sticky residue from sticker
Bought 1 large and 1 small. No plastic packaging (yay!), but arrived with a sticker directly stuck on the wood, which peeled off easily enough but left a lot of sticky residue that I struggled to wash off. The "back" side is branded with the logo (not shown in pictures). Maybe should consider changing the packaging to be a paper sleeve instead of a sticker? In terms of longevity I will have to wait a few months to see, but it seems solid enough.
