Great for traveling or overnight hikes/trips
I wanted a backpack that could go in an overhead compartment on an airplane but that would also hold a lot of belongings and would still be comfortable and supportive to wear. I do believe the SnugPak fits all these requirements. It's perfect for overnight trips or day hiking trips. I even took it on a 6-day trip in the U.S. when using airfare and was able to fit everything in it (and I'm a young woman who loves to accessorize!). My only complaints are that the side pockets are kind of awkward and not ideal for getting stuff in and out of them. Best to put food in them if you're hiking, or supplies you won't need immediately (if they're at the bottom).

Worth the price
Decent bag, especially if you're a bit sick of Pals & Molle attachment webbing and want something simple.Fabric is thin (thinner than it looks, BAD) but Light(kind of good). I have been issued about 30 bags over the years. This one was inexpensive enough to buy for average person, hiking etc. Well done straps and belt (non-removable which is not necessarily a bad thing). Does not have Camelbak or PC sleeve but of course you can always put either in there (PC in neoprene "condom" or Camelbak in similar holder). It's is somewhat of a throwback to the packs I have used prior to OIF/OEF (2000ish).Overall it is a three star-two if you really need a modern tactical pack w/attachments or a four if you like a less complicated back pack.Proudly Made in China. New style
I just received the sleeke Force 35 its the new model with the Velcro on the flap and four strap placements on the bottom. Have not used it yet but it looks very sturdy and should work well for a carry-on bag.

This is an old version of the Sleeka Force 35
This is an old version (as almost everything is on Amazon when the price is significantly lower than in stores) of the backpack. The new version has four loops on the bottom, Velcro for a patch on the flap, Velcro to hold excess strapping (rather than the elastic loops on the old version), and maybe a few other differences depending on exactly how old the pack is. You can see a newer version on Youtube. I just bought a barely used 2004 model in black. The interior waxy coating probably adds some amount of waterproofing before it gets rubbed off. I noticed that some of the coating was rubbed off after I shoved a cooler in the pack and took it out a couple of times. It's easy to see the bare spots because it's a thick interior surface coating. The coating is soft and a lint magnet and lint can't be dusted off of it. I held the fabric up to the light and it's a very open weave, though I'm not sure if it's less tight than other 500 denier fabric. I'm no pack expert though. Personally, I like it because it's the perfect size for my cooler, it has room left for a couple of 6-packs on top, and it has a good waist belt, at least for someone about 5' 9" tall. Hopefully, the rain cover (which unfortunately is camouflaged on my old black version) is waterproof.

The label says the fabric is water proof
I bought this some years ago as a smallish ruck for day hikes, etc. In spite of what the label on the inside of the ruck says (made in the PRC) the fabric, though durable and the ruck is well made, is NOT in the least waterproof. I use a garbage bag liner to make it reasonably satisfactory if there may be rain. Also the outside mesh pocket is totally useless as it does not expand and can only hold relatively flat objects. I love the side pockets as they are very secure though again not water proof. For the Amazon price it is satisfactory.

Four stars
Worked exactly as I had hoped. Held up great on a recent trip to Africa. Enough room to make sure you have a change of clothes, Ipad, chargers, SLR and point and shoot camera. Zippered top holds passport etc. The only thing that would make this the perfect carry on is an easy access slip for paperwork. Make sure you are a fan of top loading packs. I am.
