Awesome Origins = Awesome Book with an Awesome Hero
Top notch, smart, funny, and charming. The writing is engaging and clear without talking down, especially in the humor. The art is lively and exciting, evoking the spirit of great superhero comics and graphic novels. If you enjoy this book, do seek out the G-Man graphic novels, which expand the narrative and world for G-Man, Great Man, and all their friends. Great stuff across the board!Your kids (and you) will love G-Man.

Excellent fun for young readers who like superheroes
'The G-Man Super Journal: Awesome Origins' by Chris Giarrusso is part book, part graphic novel and all awesome. It's perfect for younger readers who like stories about superheroes. When Michael G., or G-Man as his friends call him, is assigned the task of keeping a journal for school, he is initially reluctant. We learn about the origin of his last name, which is just G. We learn that he lives in a town of superheroes, chief among them is Captain Thunderman with hsi lightning bolt staff and horned helmet. Captain Thunderman's chief nemesis is Mister Mental. G-Man's chief nemesis is Mr. Leary who thinks that superheroes are stupid and that diplomas are more important. We also see some of G-Man's friends gaining superpowers, while G-Man is left without them. Will he be able to foil Mr. Leary? Will he be able to join the Suntrooper Space Force? Will he be able to prove to his parents that his brother Kevin is the one actually breaking the video game controllers?Initially, I was a bit concerned because diplomas seemed to be getting the back seat, but when G-Man's friends prove they are smart and powerful, then the story becomes more about being the best at who you are. The art is great and there are full color pictures that look like magazine clippings thoughout the book. The text is broken up by black and white comic strips that continue the story (meaning you read the comics and text together). The humor is really great. It's a fun, fun book and I recommend it for younger readers.I received a review copy of this ebook/graphic novel from Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this fun ebook/graphic novel for younger readers.

I am a 41 year old male and I enjoy G-man more than any other "Comic"
I am a 41 year old male and I enjoy G-man more than any other "Comic". It has very sly adult humor but nothing that isn't "kid friendly". I don't say or take this lightly, Chris G. is today's Charles Schulz!!! I'd give this 6 stars if I could.

Fun and optimistic
Chris Giarruso captures the spirit of youth in these stories. My son loves the book and reads it over and over. If you love a fun optimistic story or the adventure of a superhero then this is a winner.

More
All the g-man stuff has been a lot of fun as it gives an all ages story that both spoofs and embraces traditional superhero tropes. Would like to see some more.

Chris Giarrusso should do more kids comics
I wish Chris Giarrusso would put out more material. I purchased his earlier G-Man and Mini Marvels comic series books to read to my kids, and they are great. Great sense of humour, and in the case of Mini Marvels, inventive way of introducing all the Marvel Universe characters in a kid-friendly, non-threatening manner. It's very difficult to find other comic books that are appropriate for kids 10 and under, but his work really fits that category well. This book is a bit of a departure, I think to capitalize on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, but my 10 year old enjoyed it. My 7 year old prefers his earlier works, and from what I've seen, I think I do too.
