Blue Wave NS098 12-mil Solar Blanket for Hot Tubs, 7-ft x 8-ft, Royal Blue

We're in Florida and this is our substitute hot tub cover for the winter (As opposed to the huge, heavy vinyl leather styrofoam thing we used up north!). It keeps in some heat, keeps out leaves, bugs and the like. I'm sure it will last about two winters, more if we're lucky.

Used as cover for a 7 foot diameter stock tank we were using as a hillbilly swimming pool. It worked great! It was the perfect radius and had maybe 1-2" space around. It brought the temperature up about 3-5 degrees(F) on a sunny day. Light and easy for one person to put on, remove or clean with a garden hose. Kept water cleaner, too. But it's just thicker bubble wrap...so don't expect miracles. It's not going to turn your pool into a solar hot tub...and it won't magically clean it or keep leaves out, etc. But it's better than open water.

A spa plan that didn't work...I purchased this to put in my hot tub hoping to decrease the amount of moisture absorbed by the new insulated spa cover. Since those covers get so terribly heavy and stinky due to moisture absorption I have to replace them every few years, to the tune of $500! This solar blanket arrived fine, was easy to cut to shape and appeared to be a good solution. However, it unfortunately got sucked into the spa's circulation system, and was bunched up in the intake. Dang! That didn't work. But the solar blanket product itself was fine.

This does a nice job of extra heat containment for our spa. We bought a new one after 15 months because it starts to become brittle. Worth it for the price.

It comes folded and rolled so has many creases in it. Used a heat gun to slowly heat up sections to smooth them out. As a pool cover no idea how long it will last. Bought to use as a wet felting mat.

In a little bit bigger size than what was stated but that's fine I just cut it down. But overall it works good I just have a small pool for my dogs keep it warm and with less debris. Overall very pleased fits the pool perfect after I cut it down. The material is heavy weight It doesn't blow round and heavy winds.

For those of you who have a hot tub, in which your original cover , that needs to be replaced, that can cost over 200 dollars, this is your best bet. We live in the southern states, to when temperature can get to only 20 degrees F , and this cover works, I had my doubts when I bought it, but the temperature reached 35 degrees one night, I had the tub set at 101, the next morning, the hot tub was not running at all, it kept it's temperature under the cover , at least for a couple hours while I was home. For those wanting to save money , I would highly suggest this product. Yes my tub is outside. For those of you who live in warmer climates, no snow, hardly any freezes you must buy this.

Buyer Beware. If I still had the box I would most definitely return this item as it is not nearly the quality i wanted. This blanket is super supper thin and not suitable for use as a hot tub thermal cover. I bet it won't last over 3 months. The bubbles were mostly deflated upon arrival and it is two pieces on cheap plastic taped together. Think of the bubble wrap you would use for wrapping dishes or glasses, only blue in color, maybe a bit thicker and you will get the idea here. My prior Solar blanket, while the image looked similar to the one pictured here, was of much better quality, much thicker, the air bubbles actually had air inside and was one solid piece that did the job, not two pieces tape together like this one. This blanket is very difficult to put on the tub as it is paper thin and blows in the and bends as there is absolutely no shape at all. The spa water gets on top of of the blanket as and it does not lay flat over the tub water due to the thinness. As I said, it is very very thin plastic like bubble wrap. My previous one was purchased on Amazon from a hot tub web site, and I might suggest you do the same. As I said, buyer beware on this product.

The product has broken down and cracked soon after installing and also is dissolving slowly. There are always little blue flakes of the cover floating around

Love it so easy to cut to size and shape of the hot tub. it really helps keep the heat in and almost no condensation on the hot tub cover. We use less chemicals now and less hydro for heating the the hot tub. It’s just perfect!

We ordered this cover 10 days less than one year ago and it's already seriously disintegrating and has put "blue contact lenses" into our spa that are hard on the filter. It definitely works to keep the heat in and helps to keep the cost down, but the last thermal blanket we used (the white thin flexible foam kind) lasted for 3 years - this one hasn't even made a year. Having to buy another one in less than a year has definitely eaten up more than the cost savings this bad boy provided.We'll be going back to the white thermal blanket kind - these blue bubble ones can't take the heat.

Hot tub blanket arrived as expected - using blanket has drastically reduced our hydro consumption for the 2 months we've had it. Our water quality has also stayed cleaner longer using blanket. I would recommend to others don't use a hottub without a blanket.

While I think this was a little overpriced for plastic, it was large enough to be custom cut for our tub and fit perfectly. It was unknown whether the bubbles should have been face up or down and I think we picked the wrong way. Using it does mean that the skimmer filter on your tub will work a little less effectively. However, it has had a measurably effect on reducing the energy requirements. The tub circulates to heat much less with the blanket on - even though we have an excellent hot tub cover. For a cold winter, as we have in Toronto, this has likely paid for itself in this winter alone.
