Mother is calling
Another superhero movie from Warner Brothers involving DC Comics characters. This one brings their premier superteam the Justice League to the big screen.Having seen 'Batman Vs Superman' and 'Wonder Woman' first of all will help you get into this, as it does follow on from the former. In a world without Superman, and impending attack from beyond the stars, Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince need all the help they can get in order to deal with the coming invaders. There are other super powered individuals out there. But will their greatest battle be with an alien army, or trying to come together as a team?...I've been reading DC Comics for decades. I've dreamed of seeing a Justice League movie for a long time. So I could write a lengthy spiel analysing and nitpicking this film to death. But instead, I will sum up my viewing experience of it in three words:I enjoyed it.Despite all the stories about reshoots and trying to find the right tone, it's a coherent narrative. You will only spot the joins if you go looking for them. The main plot is nothing special. Alien villain Steppenwolf is rendered via slightly ropey cgi. But the fun of the film is in the characters. Watching them come together, bicker and fight and learnt to work alongside each other is very entertaining, with a lot of fun moments.Ben Affleck does manage some nicely subtle moments of emotional reserve, and trying to get beyond those.Gal Gadot was brilliant in Wonder Woman. And is thus brilliant here again. Diana being very much the emotional soul of the line up.Jason Momoa has charisma and screen presence as Aquaman, and really comes over as an outsider. You don't get perhaps enough of his origin here, and the one Atlantis scene might confuse those who don't know their dc continuity But all that should be in his forthcoming solo movie, so looking forward to that.Ray Fisher delivers a subtly understated Cyborg, convincing as someone who is living on another level. But the star is Ezra Miller, brilliant and huge fun as the Flash, making him very much someone who is living a bit too fast.Superman? Spoilers. The running time of the movie works to it's advantage as well, as it's almost over before you know it, and that left me wanting more.It doesn't compare to Avengers Assemble, but no Superhero team movie probably ever will. But as a launch for this group, it's not bad at all.Do keep watching during the end credits for two more scenes, one early on. And one right at the end.The dvd has the following language and subtitle options:Languages: English, Castilian Spanish.Subtitles: English, Castilian Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Norwegian, Swedish. It has the usual flyer with a code for downloading a copy of the film onto a digital device. The disc goes straight into the main menu when loaded, with no ads or trailers.Although there are clearly deleted scenes from this, I'm afraid all dvd owners get extras wise is one featurette: Road to justice. A thirteen min long feature with various comic creators and professionals looking at the various versions of the justice league from down the years, from comics to animation to big screen. It's a rush through the years, but it does have some interesting moments even if you do know all this stuff, particularly in writer Grant Morrison's explanations of his era, so it's worth a watch.

Solid 4K/UHD, disappointing movie - SPOILER FREE
Whilst the movie itself may disappoint, and the ramifications of the numerous production issues are unfortunately extremely apparent, the 4K/UHD Blu-ray itself may just offer enough substance to earn a place in your 4K/UHD BR collection.Upscaled from a 2K digital intermediate, the pixel presentation of Justice is strong and is a decent improvement over the 1080p Blu-ray, but it doesn't offer that crisp, clean image that a true 4K capture can offer. Skin, costume and scenery textures all show finer details, but due to this increase resolution, any already distracting CGI stands out even more, and there are a couple of genuinely bad CG implementions, which is incredibly disappointing.Where the image quality itself isn't much to rave about, the HDR is mostly excellent, allowing for the more colourful and lighter colour palette (compared to previous DC movies) to shine brighter and bolder. From the blindingly bright bolts of lightning that crack during the 'Speed Force' scenes, to the varied, deep reds of Superman's cape and Cyborg's body, the HDR performance of Justice League's 4K/UHD BR is in a league of its own compared to the standard, SDR 1080p BR.Audio is arguably the best aspect of the 4K/UHD BR. Offering a Dolby Atmos mix, Justice League's audio possesses depth and clarity across all ranges and makes for easy-to-hear dialogue, even when a vairety of overlapping noise, such as an explosions or gunfire is occurring in the scene. Action feels suitably weighty, the soundtrack - whilst somewhat forgettable - adds emotion to each scene rather than overwhelming, and the object based Dolby Atmos audio adds immersion throughout.

SUPERB 4K ACTION IN THE BATMAN V SUPERMAN FOLLOW-UP
As prophesied by Lex Luther and feared by Batman (Ben Affleck) a new threat to the World emerges two years after Superman's (Henry Cavill) death in the shape of Steppenwolf (Claran Hinds) who thousands of years before had been defeated by a combination of the Amazons, Olympians and Atlanteans is brought back by the 'mother-box' held by the Amazons along with his vast army of Parademons. If he gets his hands on the other mother-boxes very little can stop him taking over the World.Batman realizes that he'll have to build a resistance force of Super-Heroes to try and stop Steppenwolf, and enlists the help of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) together they persuade The Flash/Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg/Victor Stone (Ray Fisher) to join the quest along with if but at first reluctantly Aquaman (Jason Momoa)However, realizing the odds are against them Batman suggests trying to resurrect Clarke Kent using the power of a mother-box Cyborg's father had used earlier to rebuild his son.Though seemingly successful, Superman at first has no recollection of who he is or what he stood for, helping to save the World far from his thoughts. however, the love of Lois Lane (Amy Adams) and his beloved mother Martha (Diane Lane) will help him remember what he stood for before his death two years earlier.Batman with guidance as ever from Alfred (Jeremy Irons) and his team prepare to take on Steppenwolf and his hoards, thankfully the team will be joined by Superman who'll make the difference between success and defeat.A action-packed follow-up to Batman v Superman which is in my opinion much better than many critics have suggested, great fun, superb action and dazzling Special-Effects which are greatly enhanced with the 4k upgrade given.

Yay for 3D
I was scared this wouldn't play on my Blu-ray player which is an older Sony 3D player I bought about 5 years ago. It plays just fine. Now I just need to get a 3D TV or Projector. :-)

Perfecto
