Does not stay on carpet and it is slippery!! Not safe!.

I wanted a stair carpet protector that I could easily remove - like when I have the carpets cleaned. This item is very sturdy and easily removable. However it does not stay in place on the stairs. I first installed a hook (right angle bracket) on the front of each protector to grab underneath the front of the stair tread, but then the back of the protector raised up. Then I put strips of 1x2 wood boards to wedge between the bottom lip of the stair tread and the back of the protector. These 2 modifications help to hold the protectors in place but I have to reposition the protectors after about 8 trips up and down the stairs. Perhaps the protectors would stay in place with a different carpet. Mine is a low pile carpet.

I wish I had paid more attention to the width of my stairs and looked for wider protectors because my kids tend to go up and down quite close to the handrail side of the stairs and an offset installation would look odd. The listing does clearly indicate that you get 4 stair protectors and 4 nail pads (clear plastic pad with spikes that are supposed to imbed in the carpet to keep them in place). Most people will need to purchase multiple packs. Based on my experience, the provided adhesive stickers are inadequate and the spiked pad does not keep the protectors in place anyway. Like others, I had to screw them into the stairs. I also used spray adhesive to keep the spiked pads in place. After drilling a hole, I used finishing washers to give it a finished look and hopefully reduce the chance of the protector ripping through the screw ofer time. They do the job they are designed to do and protect your carpet, but it isn’t as simple as the manufacturer would have you believe. They are very slippery. Be careful with socks. Animals will probably learn quickly to up and down more carefully and slowly.

Very slippery especially when wearing socks, will not stay in place..We spent $130.00 on a bad product..

I thought I was going to get 8 stair protectors… I got 4 2 piece stair protectors with stickers to try to get them to stick together. The stickers are a joke and don’t hold at all. Needed to get some double sided sticky tape to put it together. I also had to drill holes in the plastic and tack them to the floor as it is for low pile carpets and mine is a bit too thick.This is better than the other product listed on Amazon which is only 2 pieces and somewhat smaller, but I was thinking I would be able to do all of my stairs with one box. I see that on the 3rd picture it does say 4 pieces each but I didn’t see it as I just saw the steps and not the 4 pieces description. I will have to buy another box to finish the stairs… Disappointing…

This is a nice product if you want to protect your carpeting on your staircase. My only desire would be that there would be more d given that stairs or generally not that small in any event it’s made of a strong plastic which holds in place well. It doesn’t cover the entire there, but the majority of it where people will be stomping
