What is the grass type % breakdown?

The specific types of Kentucky Bluegrass in your particular bag will change from year to year and from region to region. Only way to tell for certain what your bag of seeds contain is to check the back of the package. There will be a while label with the percentages of each Bluegrass species included in your particular bag. However if you are not knowledgeable about the qualities of the specific type mentioned on the label even this information will have little value to you. Generally major brands sold in most retailers like Scotts will offer a selection of mid quality Bluegrass types. Not the latest or greatest varieties just developed but also not the lowest grade of this grass type.

Anyone having success with this in Virginia?

Not in Virginia but I have it growing in my backyard in central Oklahoma and it does great.  I’m fixing to seed some more bare spots.  It stays pretty green year round.

What is the mix ratio of Kentucky blue with other seed? Like 9!1

Here are the numbers from the back of the bag.

Jumpstart Kentucky Bluegrass 14.41%, Bluecoat Kentucky Bluegrass 14.39%, Abbey Kentucky Bluegrass 13.91%, other crop seed 0.25%, weed seed 0.01%, inert matter 51.75%.  Inert matter contains 50% Water Smart plus Fertilizer Coating.

Those are the numbers from a bag of Scotts Kentucky Bluegrass Mix purchased in Spring of 2021.

What is maximum height of grass that i need to mow?   I always mow my lawn at 3.75" so it can stay in green during hot and dry period in summer.

Accepted Answer

The recommended mowing heights for Bermudagrass is ½" - 2". For spring & summer, set your mower at the highest preferred setting for your grass type, cutting only the top 1/3 of the grass blades at any one time.
