My First Touch and Feel Language Picture Cards: First Words (My First Board Books)

These are high quality cards. My baby loves them. They're thick, some have great textures and the word choice is good. We need more! She is already learning the words and is obsessed with them!

Toddler loves the feel portion of the cards, thick and easy for small hands to play with. Great flashcards.

I got these for my 17 month little boy for Christmas. He LOVES them. The pictures are identifiable and he recognizes them all and can even say some of the words. The other words he can't quite say so clearly yet, but he tries and I can understand enough of what he trying to say to know he knows! And he is getting better each time so it is definitely helping. We've had these for less then a month and I see the expansion in his vocabulary. We got 4 of these sets of flash cards but this particular set has the most variety. It is the simplest to me because the items can be so different rather than just a different type of boat. I could have started him with this set sooner but he still struggles with the difference between a "combine harvester" and "Digger" in his other sets. And I just Facetimed with him while he was at his grandparents and the cards & pictures are big, clear & colorful enough for him to see them & me - without having to hold card so close to camera to make it big. Seeing his cards held his attention more than his mom just talking to him at this age through an iPad so bonus for that.Other reviews mentioned how sturdy the box was & how their child enjoyed putting the cards back. I agree. We are working on cleaning up & putting away our toys when we are done... We've got a little more work to do there. But Sam really enjoys putting the cards back in the box. We play different games with these but one of them is laying all the cards out on the floor and then I say the picture on the card & Sam "wins" by guessing the right card & by showing his selection by putting the card in the box. Another reason I like playing with these cards as I win too! But even if the card putting away isn't part of whatever game we are playing, he still likes the challenge & cheer of putting the cards in the box.

These cards actually exceeded my expectations. I was skeptical to get them for my 4th kiddo (9 months old) because I didn't use anything like this for my other kids (and, if I'm being really honest, I wanted flash cards that were like the Indestructible books that he could chew on and they wouldn't get destroyed). But wow! These are STURDY. Not indestructible but any means, but not flimsy at all. I would not let your kiddos chew on them -- they will not last. But my son did try to bend them and they held strong! And the pictures are beautiful. The "feely" parts are really well done, and the case is sturdy -- it even has a velcro closure.I think it's important to know, though, that I would not consider these "first words" necessarily, but some of them are (dog, cat, apple, ball, etc...but also jelly, fire truck, keys, mirror) ! No issue for me at all. They are just fun flash cards to touch, and I was impressed at how well they kept my 9 month old's attention. He and his 3 year old brother love the jelly card in particular -- it's sticky and fun to touch.I also love how they use real pictures of each instead of cartoon drawings. I will be buying other sets for sure!

Great cards; the colors are bright, the textures are varied & the image quality is perfect but I omitted one star because some of the words do not qualify as first words so I have to skip over them; "fire truck" would be an example.

These flash cards are perfect for younger toddlers and babies all the way through preschool age. They’re large cards made of a thick cardboard, similar to a page of a board book. The size, sturdiness, and touch and feel makes them appropriate for younger babies. Teaching doesn’t always come naturally to me, so I love the prompts on the back of each card to really engage my child. Each card also gives you the subject word in 4 additional languages - Spanish, French, German, and Chinese. These are definitely an item that will grow with your child!

My daughter loves these cards. The jelly card is no longer sticky, but she still likes to dump out all the cards and also tries to put them back in the box.The box is very sturdy and has a velcro dot closure. The cards a fairly sturdy as well. Some of the touch and feel parts aren't really feely as they are only shiny foil "painted" on, so it's more of a visual kind of thing.Since getting these cards and the other three sets, my daughter has quickly learned all the words. It is quite amazing. She also likes to open all the boxes and dump the cards out in a big pile. Then she stands on the pile and slips around on them. She sometimes lies down and makes "flash card angel" which just makes a huge mess. The worst part is me having to separate out the cards.Some cards are similar to others in the other boxes. We have two tractors, two trains, two buses, two dogs, two cats, but each one is a slightly different view.I think these cards helped a lot. I ask her to get a specific card and she looks for it and gives it to me. I also show her cards and she tells me what is on the card. She also will run off and get her toy that is the same as the card. For instance, the dog card, she goes to get her stuffed dog which looks completely different from the one on the card, but she knows that they are both dogs. She'll point to the card, and then to the toy and repeat the word. Sometimes I end up with a big pile of her toys that match those on the cards.Overall these cards are a good value. They are much more sturdy than other cards (Baby Einstein) that she has. She likes to feel the textures on the card too. The images are big and clear without distractions on the card itself.
