KJV Holy Bible: Deluxe Thinline with Cross References, Burgundy Leathersoft, Red Letter, Comfort Print: King James Version

I visited several bookstores in my area to view the font size of various compact Bibles. 5.5-point is way too small for me. This Bible is 8-point, which is almost the same size as my regular sized Bible; the font is very readable.This compact Bible fits in my back or front pants pocket. The actual measurements from cover edge to cover edge are 6" high x 4.25" wide x 1.25" thick; I suspect that Amazon's measurements are larger because they measured the box, not the Bible itself.Another nice feature is the magnetic flap. This helps to keep the book from opening accidentally in luggage, and makes it easier to slip into your pocket without ruining the pages. I think I prefer the magnetic flap to the snap flap; sometimes the snap on the snap flap digs into the first few pages of the book; I was also concerned that the snap may eventually wear-out or come off. So happy to find the beautiful language and faithful translation of the Authorized King James Version. With so many new translations and KJV renderings on the market today, the Authorized KJV is becoming difficult to find. Features include a thin-line design, beautiful soft-touch cover, strong open-flat binding, clear and legible type, center-column cross references, maps, concordance, one-year reading plan and so much more. I am delighted with this Bible.

Great bible, dont always go by review, if i did i would not get this great study bible. This bible is all round and good size.

I have purchased much more expensive bibles that do not have the bells & whistles; miracles, prophecies, harmony of the gospels....Nice paper and font you can read!

Ich besitze einige deutsche Bibelübersetzungen (Luther 2017, 1984, Jerusalemer Bibel 1968 [Herder-Text]), sowie die Englische ESV Study-Bible. Da diese Bibeln alle auf dem sog. kritischen Text basieren (Nestle-Aland, Greek New Testament), dieser jedoch einige, wie ich finde für das Allgemeinverständnis wichtige Textzeugen in die Fußnoten verbannt (z.B. Johannes 5,3b-4), habe ich mich entschieden, mir noch eine auf dem Byzantinischen Text bzw. Textus Receptus (TR) fußende Übersetzung zuzulegen. Meine Wahl fiel hierbei auf die englische KJV.Diese klassische englische Bibelübersetzung erschien ursprünglich 1611 und wurde 1769 nochmals behutsam an die damalige Gegenwartsprache angepasst ("never" anstatt "neuer"). In dieser Fassung wird sie bis heute unverändert aufgelegt.Auch wenn ich mich keineswegs zu den "KJV-Onlyists" (die nur die KJV als von Gott inspirierte Bibelübersetzung ansehen) zähle, fand ich es dennoch faszinierend, endlich den Byzantinischen Text in Händen zu halten, der sich doch in einer Vielzahl von NT-Versen vom kritischen Text unterscheidet.Die vorliegende Ausgabe des amerikanischen Verlagshauses Thomas Nelson kommt in einer äußerst stabilen, gebundenen Edition daher. Der Umschlag besteht aus "bonded leather", also Lederfaserstoff, und ist ausreichend flexibel. Leider ist der Textblock ziemlich straff eingeklebt, so dass die Bibel nur schwer zum offen-liegenbleiben zu bewegen ist.Die KJV enthält als traditionelle protestantische Bibelübersetzung keine Apokryphen, obgleich diese ursprünglich auch in der KJV enthalten waren, also mitübersetzt wurden. Die Schriftgrösse kommt als 9.0 Punkt daher und ist damit auch für einen Brillenträger wie mich noch gut lesbar. Wie in vielen englischen Bibeln üblich, sind die Worte Jesu Christi im NT mittels roter Tinte vom restlichen Text abgesetzt. Ein sehr interessantes Feature wie ich finde. Leider besitzt die KJV keine Kapitelüberschriften, sondern gibt lediglich die Kapitelnummern an. Als Orientierungshilfe dienen kurze den Inhalt erklärende Sätze in der Kopfzeile jeder Seite. Da es sich um die "Reference Edition" handelt, bringt diese zweispaltig gesetzte Bibelausgabe eine Mittelspalte mit sich, in der Querverweise zu anderen Bibelstellen, sowie alternative Übersetzungsvarianten und Erklärungen bezüglich der manchmal doch recht archaischen Ausdrucksweise der KJV zu finden sind. Abgerundet wird diese Bibelausgabe durch ein Verzeichnes der "Wunder und Gleichnisse Jesu Christi", sowie eine umfassende Konkordanz (60 S., dreispaltig) zu wiederkehrenden Begriffen und ein paar farbige Landkarten zur biblischen Geschichte.Einziger Nachteil ist möglicherweise das arg dünne Papier der Bibel. Damit ist jedoch bei einer Thinline-Ausgabe zu rechnen. Entsprechend vorsichtig sollte man also mit dem Lesebändchen verfahren. ;-)Alles in allem kann ich diese Bibelausgabe jedem empfehlen, der eine sauber verarbeitete, dabei jedoch preisgünstige KJV-Bibel bzw. TR-Bibel sucht. Sollte man des Englischen doch nicht so mächtig sein, kann man notfalls immer noch zur deutschen Schlachter2000-Bibel (ebenfalls TR) greifen.
