It works. I had to very lightly sand the shaft to get it to go into the barrel, but that means that thare was absolutely no play as I was cutting the threads. Aluminum is a better choice than steel for this--steel would damage the rifling in the barrel if it fit with the proper tightness. If the fit is tight, the aluminum will deform before damaging the rifling. I had no problem with the shaft bending. If you're torquing the die sideways while cutting threads, you're doing it wrong. Even if the die starts out straight, your cut will wander off-center if you don't consistently apply equal pressure to both handles of the die holder. I don't know if this will help you cut threads accurate enough to mount a long suppressor without baffle strikes, but it's definitely good enough to thread a barrel for a flash hider or muzzle brake. If it had a collet-style adjustment to ensure a tight fit I'd give it 5 stars. But coming slightly oversized and sanding to exact fit works reasonably well, especially for the price.

I bought this to help me threat my Bereta M9A1 22r, but that bore is a few thousandths smaller in the inside diameter than every other 22lr I own.

Very hard to start a tap on it.

This is 5/8x24. The packages says 1/2 by 28 but they aren't. Order the second one and same thing these are 5/8 x 24 thread starts.
