Didn't really want a hobby project
Came as advertised, will edit when project is complete, have been soaking all parts in neatsfoot oil for a couple of days to soft enough to work with, leather has darkened to a pleasant color, darker than shown. Should be easy enough to assemble, the enclosed diagram us pretty straight forward. Don't understand others confusion? Solid 4's for now, should go to 5's when done......On edit, so far so good, taking on the color of some high dollar Bianchi rigs, not bad for $30!......Final edit..got as 5 now.....after 3 days in neatsfoot oil I put 'er together and it's a tight fit with the cord connectors but it'll work just fine, bought primarily for wearing on ATV trips, will adjust a bit for more mid chest positioning, holds the weapon securely and I am pleased! One more comment, bought these to make size adjustment easier for over jackets or under......screw in rivets, now I'm pleased as hell!https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07DNM7KXG

Excellent shoulder rig
I got exactly what I paid for. Like other reviews stated, the straps and ties all need treated with a leather conditioner prior to being assembled. My package came on a Friday and I applied several generous coats of Lexol conditioner and warmed the leather to allow it to seep in. After letting it sit for 2 nights in a box covered with rags, it was pliable enough for assembly on Sunday. Assembly took about 20 minutes and takes some guesswork with the poor quality photo print. I searched an online picture that did better justice. I did have to widen a few of the holes to get the ties to pass through. This is a steal for $30 and fits my M9 with the accessory rail snug. I did treat the holster portion to allow the extra space for the rail and prevent tearing; it did not compromise the integrity and is holding up well. I never got to use one of these in the service (we used the Bianchi holsters) but I’ve always been fond of the leather shoulder rig. Very pleased with my purchase!

My favorite shoulder holster after a little work
Great shoulder holster. Does come stiff, but an overnight soak in mink oil easily softened it up. As with any leather, don’t overdo the soak time as over absorption can make leather too soft. I also used chicago screws for connectors instead of the leather ties (see pic)I played around a bit finding the most comfortable set up, but once i found the sweet spot i haven’t adjusted a thing. It takes some trial and error, but thats good because the design allows you to dial in to your body’s individual shape. My last tanker holster was designed to be worn over the right shoulder with the pistol on the left, so at first i was playing with that set up. However, I found that using the left shoulder is much more comfortable and the chest strap keeps it locked in place.Unbelievably good value for a made in the usa holster. Just need to do a some leather treatment and fitting.Definitely would buy again!

Coated with plastic
I bought this product figuring it was cheaply made. I read the reviews about dry leather and thought "no problem, I'm going to condition it when I get it, anyway." I noted the light caramel color (which I didn't like) and figured that was just the dye color, and it would darken like any dyed leather with the introduction of conditioner/oil. Based on experience with similar projects, it looked like I could get a nice russet brown color out of the leather once I'd oiled it up. Nope!Once I started oiling the holster, I noticed that the oil wasn't penetrating on the finished side of the leather. It wasn't until that point that I realized that the manufacturer had treated the finished side with what appears to be some kind of plastic/vinyl/silicon coating. This means that I cannot darken the leather with oil and I'm stuck with the uniform light brown finish that will never show character. The finish, in fact, is reminiscent of the cheap "plastic over leather" finishes I've seen on Eastern European surplus leather goods from the '80s. What it effectively does is takes real leather and renders it as ugly and useless as "vegan" leather.Unfortunately, since you can't really tell this until you start applying the oil, I'm probably stuck with the product. You're better off buying the same holster from World War Supply. Judging from the pictures, that one has a finish that is permeable to oil and will stain nicely. https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Leather-Tanker-Shoulder-Holster/dp/B00S32RCBC?ref_=bl_dp_s_web_9448190011
