Pricey but Worth the Extra Money
Pricey compared to other models but this is really designed more for the professional users like Uber and truck drivers. Apple app works well and it connects to a cloud service for event storage automatically when connected to the internet. I have that in my car so it is seamless. This one was a replacement for me because my old one (same brand) required hard wiring which I did not want to do when I purchased a new car. This one plugs easily into the car diagnostic port. Running all the cables is not a fun job and requires some patience but the quality is much better than those cheap no-name brands that are all over Amazon.

Good camera, bad lifespan.
Blackvue used to be great, I had 3 of the 1080p 2ch versions previously! I bought a new car and thought I'd get a new dashcam. Great camera, short to non existent lifespan. I bought one of these about 2 years ago now. And it died after 6 months of use. And I didn't have the money to buy another at that time. fast forward to now. I figured i'd give blackvue another go, well this time the camera barely lived for a week before it too failed to ever power on again. Time to go with another brand.

The camera quality is good. Best dashcam I've tried yet.
Installed in my 2021 RAM 1500 crew cab truck. The truck itself lends itself well to installing things like this in the first place. I have a couple thoughts I think people should consider. 1) get a large SD card. While there are cloud features, if you don't have enough space in storage you could wind up losing important footage. 2) Cloud features have a cost. I'm chaffing at how everything seems to come with a subscription attached, so see point #1 above. The cloud features are good, but connectivity is a problem in general and I think that deserves your attention as well. 3) The battery would be a good addition to this BUT IT IS AWFULLY EXPENSIVE for what it is. 4) The LTE option would be good but they should make it work with esim services and unlock it. If I could add it to my AT&T or Verizon account as a device that would be MUCH better. And again, the parts are too expensive as it is. 5) the cable to the rear facing camera could use to be just a little bit longer. If it were long enough, I could mount it on the center sliding window and route the cable down the driver's side of the truck. This would allow it to sit in the center of the back window and simply ride the center window to its open position and back again. But the cable simply isn't long enough by about 6 inches or so to make that happen. So instead I had to route the cable down the passenger side and have the rear camera mounted offset to the passenger side to avoide the movement of the center sliding window. This is a minor concern, granted, but it was a little bit annoying. Quality of the camera itself is great. I did very slightly modify the plastic surround on the rearview mirror structure to allow the cable to emerge and connect to the camera. If I sell the truck I'll remove the cameras and no one will ever know they were ever there. I used a couple of simple add a circuit fuse kits to add the cameras to the fuse panel, and rely on the included fuses in the kit. The cameras do monitor truck battery voltage and have not impaired the truck by running down the battery. It definitely turns off when voltage reaches the configurable level. I tuned that voltage up a bit just to make sure it doesn't put a strain on the truck battery. I may very well add the battery pack at some point but the cost is so high I have to work up to hitting the buy button for it. Over all, I love the camera and enjoy having the peace of mind that comes from having evidence should something bad happen. While I nitpick, I appreciate the quality of this product and highly recommend it if you're struggling to make sense of the enormous variety of options that exist in the market today.

Excellent camera
Excellent product! We have used this brand in several cars over the years and have no issues with this newer model in 7 months of usage. Great video quality and the battery saving “motion & impact detection” mode is a nice feature.

DR970X-2CH Plus will not work with WiFi on iPhone, even after updates.
This is my 2nd Blackvue; I now have the DR970X-2CH Plus, with all the updates. The firmware is updated to the latest and I have the newest app from Blackvue. The WiFi will NOT connect from my iPhone 15 Pro Max. I've spent days reading/researching how to overcome this wifi-connectivity issue, doing all the recommdations to no avail. (rebooting, removing the wifi settings, deleting the app, formatting the card, etc.) I've called tech support twice; they do NOT answer and will not return my phone call. I've emailed tech support; no reply. This is my 2nd Blackvue cam and after spending easily 10 hours and 3 days on this wifi issue, I came to realize; this Blackvue cam wifi feature is not working and will not work reliably. (yes, I even disabled Apple CarPlay, and reset the wifi settings for this device to try to optimze it) The latest firmware installed (2.008) describes how the update fixes this issue. Not so! Also, Blackvue heavily pushes their paid-Cloud subscription; if you don't engage your email address and register your info on their cloud, some features are not engaged. I am now waiting to see if Blackvue support contacts me; unless there is some magic hidden fix, or unless they replace this unit under warranty, I'll have to replace this dashcam with another brand. -Owner of DR970X-2CH Plus, bought 11-8-2024

Nothing but Blackview for me!
My dashcam kit was exactly as expected. The Blackview products are high quality and are very dependable for the job. This is my second Blackview dashcam and I highly recommend their products above all others.

Nice camera. Great quality
Gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the way I have to get my videos now. Like everyone else, BlackVue is going towards to Pay for Storage trend. Prior on my 1st Blackvue, it allowed me to connect directly to my home network and download my videos. Their premium pay package allows this but not the "free" package. So, I have t download it to my phone and then download it to my computer. Overall the camera is excellent. I had a 750 that would not allow me to see some details clearly but this model lets me see license plate numbers. If it were not for the pay to use I would have given it 5 stars.

So I cant really speak of this actual purchase as I actually asked for a return as I went for the brother to it with the built in simm card slot. They are really otherwise the same...so Im gonna say that this is a really good camera...see my review on it.

This is the worst product I have ever purchased. I bought as a Christmas gift for my husband. I have been trying since Christmas to connect it to the cloud. That is the reason I bought this one. It will not work. I can occasionally get it to connect to the cloud but I still can’t view live stream. Support is a joke. I want my money back. I need the seller to contact me about a refund. Now I can’t even contact the seller

I've had four Blackvue camera sets. The last three have been front and rear facing. The first three were completely problem free. The fourth stopped working yesterday and I'm currently trying customer support for warranty as the power cord is good but the camera just won't power up. I'll follow up with my customer service experience. I would agree with some of the reviewers assessment of the app. It has never been great but I really don't use it other than for initial setup of the cameras. It works well for setup.
