yes and does a good job. when i do fish i cold smoke 3 ten minute cycles and then 1 ten minute hot smoke cycle. comes out really good. the more cold cycles the stronger the smoke. just dont do too many in a row as the electronic in the bottom has a tendency to get hot and melt the plastic.

Yes, it comes in the manufacturers box. I purchased the extra warranty provided, rather than take my chance with the one that comes with it.

Q: Where can I buy replacement parts?

Just called customer service and was told there is NO place to get spare parts (specifically o-ring), and they no longer sell the 7qt model. So, if you have a 7qt model and it dies, if you are still under warranty, they will replace it with a 5t model. BUT, NO PARTS available! Good luck.

Q: Would this put a crust onto meat like an outdoor smoker, or is that just crazy talk for such a short smoking time?

No crust by this smoker/pressure cooker. When I cook ribs, I fully cook in the smoker to get smoky flavor and then toss on my grill to get quick crust put on.
