Genius life item you did not know you needed--already reordered twice!
I'm a cheap-skate, so I know you might be asking if they are worth it. The answer is YES!I have a larger family so laundry, in general, is a big deal. Time-saving ideas and ways to survive the workload are also a big deal.Matching socks became one of my greatest frustrations, particularly since I'm a neat freak and never have been into the "wear whatever you can find mindset". I want the socks of my family to match their outfit, be clean and free of holes and most importantly, be readily available. Mornings are CRAZY. Nothing is worse than people not having what they need to get out the door so everyone can arrive at their destinations on-time...or heck, even make it there! So, years ago, I started safety pinning socks to wash them. That made things so much easier. I mandated people rolled or folded their socks up as they took them off and then we had to pin everything before it could be washed. That worked...for the most part.I learned certain socks would get tangled or caught in the pins (the round part) and then would get torn and thus, need to be tossed out (but it saved time, so some casualties were acceptable). Some pins came out in the wash and would get jammed up in my washer or dryer--so, I learned to only use LARGE BABY PINS (think diapers). Those can be expensive and are sometimes hard to find. Then, there is the tedium of pinning to wash and unpinning to fold. You would think I was asking the kids to clean an elephant's cage when I asked them to pin the socks--not a popular job around here. Now, I have an older son who has 40-50 specialty socks. So, basically instead of a pack of options, one shot to match that sock. Add the fact he's in college, does laundry in a rush and at laundromats, and hates the pinning idea--wow--we ended up with a whole basket of mismatched socks once again.Enter the sock-dock!We grabbed the huge pile of dirty socks & grabbed matches while easily sliding down the next button and filled-up both docks like it was nothing. We went to the laundromat and they came out perfect! Not a sock fell off and all the socks were partnered. He was excited to have matches once again! So excited as a matter of fact, he determined that he was going to store them that way. He even took them out and showed his girlfriend his matched socks. Yes, a sock dock can cause excitement :)Thus, my first reorder...because we asked ourselves "where will the dirty socks go?" We needed one set for clean socks and one set for dirty ones. (Now, if you own laundry machines and don't have to stock-pile laundry, one set might suffice). But guess what??? Now I want to transition each family member to this little wonder. This should be easier on my machines.Maybe it will help with the DH's work socks (as their more delicate nature did not always fair greatly with pins).Maybe it will ease the pinning task & the teens will cooperate more with this, as it's easier.I'm glad I found this item and I think you will be too, so give it a try!

Best remedy to keep sock mates together
This is my second purchase of this sock sorter, and I couldn’t be happier with the first order that I’ve had for a year or more. This second one is for my granddaughter that has a new baby and matching socks together is driving her crazy, and there is always a lost mate or two. It’s so simple to use. I hang them on the back of my closet door and as soon as I take my socks off, I put them between two sliders and then slide one of them down to keep the socks in place during the wash and dry cycle. I take them off the sorta after drying and place in my drawer. However, you get two different colors so you can have a clean and a dirty sorter if you don’t want to put them in a drawer after washing; just hang it back up. It’s a perfect solution to such a mundane task. This is made from somewhat heavy plastic, so it’s not impacted by dryer heat. I highly recommend it, and you’ll have time to do other things.

Easy to use but socks come out crinkled
So far, only one pair of socks has fallen out but that was during my first time trying this product out so I'll blame it on user failure. Otherwise, no socks have been lost or stuck in the washing machine door seal and I think they're all getting cleaner than before when I was putting all of my kids' socks in a mesh bag (I often found leaves and dirt in the mesh bag with the socks). I do wonder if the part of the sock that is being cinched is getting clean but that's the only concern that I have. I also started to use this to hold my family's face masks when they're getting washed. It makes it easier to find them before the laundry get tossed in the dryer since some of them are supposed to be line-dried. The quality seems good and the product seems like it was last awhile. It comes with these little plastic foot hangers that you can hang the sock dock tool from, which are funny in a weird and cute way. I use them but I don't think they're necessary. The socks do come out crinkled after being dried in the dryer but I usually fold them before putting them away and the wrinkles come out before the kids wear them...which doesn't really matter since no one really sees the socks.

Solves "Socks Without Partners" forever. Updated two years later.
This product is great! Used for my husband's dress socks, it works well to wait until full, throw it in the wash, then in the dryer and all socks come out great, ready for the drawer! Used for his very heavy (very thick) gym socks, there is dampness in the spot which holds the socks. No big deal, just hang sock dock up as usual, move the socks over an inch, loosen the cord a bit,, and they will dry soon and still be happily together. It comes with two sock docks, so if you want, you can just hang up the clean socks left in the sock dock from which children can use clean socks, while they fill the other with dirty socks. Using this for boys, I don't use this option, fearing they won't care from which sock dock they choose the socks to wear. Did not comment on durability, have only used for a few weeks. plan to buy more.2 Years Later: I have used two of these daily for almost 2 years. They are still like new. I reordered about six months after my first order. The quality of the materials and construction is excellent. Now I can also get my granddaughters' (three of whom wear the same size) panties back to the correct households in different states, after wonderful cousins' visits to Mimi. My husband likes these so much he has used them perfectly from day one. When he needs his socks washed he hangs them on a magnetic hook attached to the washer. This is my only review of a product on Amazon. This is a wonderful product! I addressed the damp spot on thick socks in my original review.
