A great item to have
This compass is great. It is shiny and good quality. I was expecting something cheap but this really surprised me. I keep it in my emergency pack and hope to never need it. However, I will be taking it camping so may end up using it for that. It is a great item to have in a survival situation and will be great for scouts or people who want to keep from getting lost. I also suggest learning how to tell directions by watching the sky.

Good for a toy
In the picture the compass is sitting in a near south pointing direction. The needle isn't a little off, it is completly useless. It isn't even consistently off if changing directions. While it looks nice, it will not do you any good for survival or scout camp or anything where knowing the direction you are facing is important.

More of a novelty than true useable navigation compass
Nice gift, not super accurate or reliable but would be decent gift if it didn't have ugly logo of company on it

Nice little compass for casual use
This is a nice little compass for casual use. It has the basic functions of a compass and can be carried around easily. However, it should not be used for advanced hiking or orienteering. It collapses down small enough to slip into the pocket, purse, bag.

Nice looking compass with a few downsides
Ok, so first of all this is a nice looking compass, it looks exactly like a silver pocket watch complete with a cover that flips open when you press the stem. The inside of the cover has some nice engraving as well. Honestly I think the whole thing would look much better if they hadn't stamped the google-eyed GUCOO logo on the cover though. That spoils any chance to have the cover custom engraved, though the back is still plain if you want to do it there. The main issue is the compass. It's functional but not very good. The compass is not liquid filled so the needle wiggles all over the place and takes time to settle, you have to hold it level and still or the needle won't rotate freely. It seems reasonably accurate though as long as you hold it flat. The other issue is the glow in the dark part. There is just one small dot on the north end of the needle and you're going to find out pretty quick that it doesn't glow for long. I hit it with my high power flashlight for about a minute and a minute later it wasn't glowing anymore. They say it will glow longer if it's exposed to sunlight but guess what, this compass has a COVER. It's basically never going to be exposed to light unless you leave it open and sitting out.I would say if you are looking for a good quality compass for hiking/survival/map reading, this probably isn't it. However if you are looking for a reasonably pretty gift, a pocket-watch sized compass in a silver, bronze or gold case this is nice as a symbolic gift. The gold version is nearly identical to the silver one while the bronze version has some pretty nice engraving on the front and back with a distressed antique finish.Oh, also, most pocket watches have a back that opens where you can stash something small like a note or one bill of emergency cash. On this compass thought the back is fixed and does not open.

Funcional and beautiful
Very impressed by the sturdy & attractive make of this GUCOO compass. You can easily slip it in your pocket and carry it with you anywhere. I was tired with the compass app on my phone which it needs frequent calibration (turning it like 8, if you know what I am talking about) and I was always worried about phone battery dying down at critical times. I don't have to worry about any of that with this compass. Great product, I would recommend to anyone looking for a reliable and compact compass.

A Vintage-Style Compass For Our Outdoor Adventures
My brother-in-law and sister enjoy hiking and camping outdoors whenever they can sneak away for a weekend trip without the kids. But they have been relying on their phones for navigation and wanted something more rugged and old-school. For my brother-in-laws birthday I gifted him this vintage military-style brass pocket compass for their excursions. The real metal design with arrow directional immediately took him back to boy scout days learning orientation basics. He eagerly started “testing” it around the house seeing if it aligned properly. And the compact size was perfect to tuck in his pack or pocket on hikes. No worrying about losing signal or battery life like cell phones! They enjoyed putting his new compass to use on their very next nature trail. The analog facing was so easy to read helping them stay on track and determine cardinal directions. At night in the tent, he said he had fun exposing the glow-in-dark feature using their lantern. It cast a nice ambient light showing the directional. This little navigation tool definitely enhanced their outdoor experience, prompting them to brush up on other survival skills. He loves that old-fashioned hands-on feeling of relying on the simple magnetic compass rather than modern phones. And he says the vintage look suits his rugged adventuring persona! It was the ideal functional gift for my nature-loving brother-in-law.

Works ok
Pros: It seems to be fairly accurate for the most part. And consistent. It’s nice looking. Weight isn’t bad. Probably a little heavier than the equivalent sized pocket watch. Cons: Although it seems fairly accurate, I’m not sure I would be willing to trust it for anything that needed a precise bearing. But it does seem to consistently point in the same direction, so for most things it should be ok. Does not come with a chain or any way of being able to attach it to something.
