Works well, best for specialist use
This is a review of the “Cikky Steam Station Iron, 1.5L Water Tank Professional Compact Steam Generator Iron, 2400W Stainless Steel Soleplate, 40s Fast Heat Up, Auto Clean And Safety Lock”.This arrived nicely packaged in a branded brown cardboard box.The iron and base together make up a chunky-sized unit, much more obviously than an iron on its own would. The iron locks onto the base for safety purposes but the height of the iron and base together make the whole ensemble slightly top heavy – I’m less happy with this sitting on my ironing board than I am/was with my current/previous iron. There are three settings – normal/dry iron, burst of steam, and continuous. The steam generation feature is way better than you would get from an ordinary self-contained steam iron. The iron itself seems to be well-constructed, it doesn’t look cheap.I think for me at least this will be a specialist tool – rather than replacing my current iron it will supplement it for the heavy steam jobs that it will do far more efficiently than my traditional steam iron would.Note: As a member of the Vine program I was supplied with this item free of charge. I will always provide an impartial and fair review of the product in question. My rating system is as follows:5 Stars – an exceptionally good, high quality product with no perceived shortcomings4 stars – a very good product that met my expectations3 stars – a product which could be better in some respects, but is still fit for purpose2 stars - a product with significant shortcomings, one which disappointed

Iron
This iron does not stand on its end when you iron. Takes longer as you need to put on the base unit. Would not recommend

Better than our ordinary iron
This is our first steam station type iron as we've only ever had ordinary steam irons that come with a mini water jug. Familiarising ourselves with the instructions would have been a good idea to avoid incidents such as pressing the self-clean button thinking it must be the steam burst button and causing the iron to flood the place.Despite the new bulky tank, the iron was actually more convenient to use on our ordinary old ironing board. The water tank sits nicely on the rack, the iron just sits on that and suddenly there were far less problems with the cable than we normally have. The iron itself heats up in less than a minute and an indicator turns from red to green. The indicator is also red while the iron is cooling down, which I liked. With the water now held separately and fed through a pipe, this type of iron is lighter and more comfortable in use. As the listing says... "iron for up to 2 hours". Woohoo! You need to hold a button in to get steam, but the button is very naturally positioned where your fingers curl round the handle. After using this for a couple of weeks we definitely prefer the Cikky Steam Station Iron now. Our only problem is with where to keep it. It all locks together nicely but we can't hang it where the old one used to go.

Great entry steam generator
This is one of the cheapest steam generator irons I have ever seen or used. It is obviously built down to the price but is still excellent at what it does, even if it does miss some of the features of high-end generator irons.Out of the box, this is lightweight and simple to use. Fill up the water tank (you can use tap water, but I would recommend filtered water if possible), plug in and you will be ready to iron in a few short minutes. The warmup time is excellent and the weighting on the iron section is good, meaning you get a good iron without wearing yourself out. The pipework between the base and the iron is also long enough to allow the base to be on the floor. This is unusual and appreciated. There are obviously a few compromises with this one. The first is that the temperature needs to be manually set for each fabric type. I have been using a high-end generator recently that sets this automatically, so it took me a while to remember to set the temperature correctly. The other larger one is the plastic quality. This is obviously made for a price and the plastic used shows it.Overall though, this is a great steam generator iron, especially for someone who is new to them.

A good alternative.
If you don't want an iron with a hot plate, this might be for you. It's difficult to compare its overall performance and utility, but it seemed to do the job and worked very well.It is very bulky and did take some time getting used to, but once you do, the functionality and steam generation is good. I am not sure about the price though, and storage - well you need a bit more space.
