"Why are we reluctant to examine our assumptions about discipleship?"
McNeal once again uses his humor and heart to share important insights on ways God is reshaping his people to advance his kingdom mission. Practical stories of real kingdom collaborators who, whether they're well known or obscure, are showing their part of a broken world what God's kingdom looks like in real, here-and-now ways. Among the potential in all the other nuggets of wisdom here, just spending some honest, extended time with his section on Shaping a People Development Culture and rethinking the foundational element of disciple making could rock your church leadership culture in a good way. Thank you again, Reggie, for calling us to see more, to long for more, to live into more of God's will being done here on earth as it is in heaven!

I have had the privilege of knowing Reggie McNeal for over a decade. His passion for the kingdom continues to grow and his voice of vision for the future is clear. Reggie's insights will help you as you lead and release those around you to lead in a manner that allows the church to be a catalytic part of moving the needle on big societal issues (those things that weigh in on whether people can experience life as God intends—like education, economic development, race relations, etc.). Kingdom Collaborators powerfully outlines the practices of leaders who turn the world upside down. Read the book and answer the call.

A Great Guide for Those Involved in Missional Communities, Networks and Movements -- 8 Essential Skills/Practices
I consider Reggie a challenging mentor and an encouraging coach in my life. We met in the late 90s shortly after his first book REVOLUTION IN LEADERSHIP was published. This book was a practical guide to church leaders growing through peer leadership and breaking through isolation of pastoral work by building deep trust and encouragement from other pastors. Over the decade that followed Reggie has authored 10 books and contributed to several others.I have joined him in the journey of stretching our perspective from the institutional church as the center of God's work to seeing God's rescued people (people...what the church really is) involved in making the Kingdom of Christ visible in words and works in all sectors of life. Everything in this creation has been damaged and groans by the rebellion of the regents God placed over his creation. Jesus came to reveal a kingdom that "restores all things" (Act 3: 20-21). His people, by his love and power, get to be in on His work.KINGDOM COLLABORATORS uses the writing style Reggie has used so effectively in other books. He writes as one who is full of joy as he watches the kingdom transform death into life, despair into hope, and division into celebrating diversity. In other books Reggie speaks to the positional leaders of the institutional church (see THE PRESENT FUTURE, MISSIONAL RENAISSANCE, and KINGDOM COME. Reggie has also written to the heart of the individual Jesus follower. (see A WORK OF HEART, PRACTICING GREATNESS, GET A LIFE AND GET OFF YOUR DONKEY). This latest book outlines the emerging role of missional communities and even the even broader expressions of social/spiritual entrepreneurship. Read this book with MISSIONAL COMMUNITIES, a collection of global case studies. This is a book to assist leaders raised up to serve as Kingdom collaborators. It clearly outlines the specific skills and practices and illustrates the rewards and challenges of living in this space. Reggie offers a scope and sequence for a curriculum of leadership development:1. Prayer that listens and watches2. Living restless with the status quo3. Combining social and spiritual values without diluting the Good News for all people4. Linking Perspective with Concrete Action5. Growing People in "just in time" and "on the job" serving6. Stirring up curiosity7. Convening the gathering -- getting the right people at the table8. A honest optimismI challenge you to go and pull 10 leadership books off your shelf written to those leading in the church where these essentials are included.Reggie thanks for continuing to serve God's kingdom cause.

Kingdom Collaborators
"Kingdom Collaborators" is a good title concerning the practices of effective leaders in today's world. Around 170 pages, the book covers many topics, some of which include:1. 8 ways kingdom leaders work.2. 5 ways kingdom leaders stir people to action.3. Ways to use entrepreneurship to solve problems.4. Ways organizations fail to best utilize volunteers and suggestions for correcting the problem.5. Questions to ask when creating a discipleship culture.6. Ways we can feed our curiosity so we can continue to learn.7. How to become an effective collaborator. The author writes from years of experience in various capacities and offers many valuable insights on how to work more effectively with others for God's glory. Very readable, the title smoothly transitions from topic to topic and will be a helpful future reference. I was given a review copy by IVP Press in exchange for a fair review.
